Hello? Where have all the Americans gone? You know, those who really do care about their fellow Americans and the American dream? Seems they have all turned into money grubbing, profit taking, asshole bastards! Instead of trying to find a way to make things cheaper, they try to find ways to make them more profitable. It has become all about the bucks, and fuck the people. I am ashamed of our congress, and have been for many years, They have let the lobbyists totally dominate D.C. Not just the republicans either, it's democrats too. They learn all too soon how to play the game if they want to stay in office.
If our leaders want to do something constructive, they can start with outlawing credit cards. Many of you are not old enough to remember life before credit cards, a time when local store owners carried charge accounts for their customers, and knew them all by name! A time when your word was actually worth something!
Since the advent of credit cards, large banking corporations have been raping the American public. Just look at the interest rates these places charge! They have come up with more ways to charge you for keeping your money than one can possibly imagine! Why isn't there a cap on how much they can charge you? Lobbyists.
The big box stores have taken away the mom and pop stores, you know, the ones that used to be on the town square where you went to shop. Yeah, you paid a little more, but the stuff was made in America, not in China or Taiwan. Remember when your aunt worked for the telephone company? Remember an operator that didn't speak with an accent so bad you can hardly understand them? What the fuck has happened to us? We don't have those good paying manufacturing jobs anymore, because some asshole CFO found a way to make them for less by letting third world children working in sweat-shops do the job. Every American company that outsources their work for goods to be consumed in America should be disolved, permantly!
There was a time when things were better. Greed wasn't so prevalent, and people weren't so dishonest. We are headed in the opposite direction, and have been for forty years. I thank God I was lucky enough to at least see what it should be like. As attrition takes care of those of us old enough to remember, those days and memories will die.
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. At some point, the poor will revolt. I may not be alive when that day comes, but it's coming. It is inevitable.
