I've been thinking: maybe, we should start a campaign of unemployment reporting.

I've been thinking: maybe, we should start a campaign of unemployment reporting.
Are ALL the unemployed counted?

How do the unemployed find out if they are counted?

If the unemployed aren't counted, how might they start a "Petition by Unemployed NOT COUNTED."

I've heard several different takes on how the unemployed are counted: household surveys, workforce numbers, unemployment rolls, etc and so on.

For some reason, I doubt the unemployment reported is an actual reflection of unemployed Americans. Moreover, underemployed Americans SHOULD BE COUNTED as part of the unemployment rate in ALL DUE FAIRNESS to the American people.

Let's demand some reflection of the truth.

Just a suggestion.

1. Economists use number of employed rather than 'unemployed' now, because so many...
who are unemployed don't qualify as 'unemployed'.

2. They keep changing the method of how they calculate this and they
don't include the actual figures of the jobless (people who want and need jobs) accurately. Instead of going to the rolls of people collecting unemployment, it might be more accurate if they counted the people looking for jobs. Let's say employers have to report on everyone who applied for a job at their company. A database could combine these for an individual. So every month they could count the number of individuals looking for jobs no matter how many job interviews they have gone. This would give a truer picture of who is actually unemployed and needing work.

4. When Reagan was in, they stopped having people
come in to the unemployment offices and verify they'd been looking for work and then have a check issued to them..instead they mailed in the list of places they looked and the check came in the mail. This eliminated long lines of unemployed that could be photographed and put in newspapers for the country to see.
