To those who think Obama barely won the nomination and
that it bodes ill for the GE remember this: He will not be facing Hillary in the GE. He will be facing a candidate that nearly half of his own party can't stand; an opponent who has the speaking style of a high school sophomore. Most of those who voted for Hillary should come back and vote for Obama. When you add those together Obama and Hillary pulled in about 36 million votes, which is a good start to the 60 to 655 million he will need to win. What kind of numbers does Grandpa start with? @ 8 million or so?

4. This was a good year for us: any of our three main candidates could beat McCain.
The states won by any of the three are slightly different, but still, I think, barring self-destruction, we always had it in the bag.

6. Last night I saw an NBC talking head,
Chuck Todd, I think, pontificating that Obama and McCain both start from an even 200 electoral votes apiece and that the battle will once again be waged in a few swing states. When you consider what McSame is offering the working people of this country - nothing - it's all too apparent that the biggest problem we face is that people continue to vote - in large numbers - against their own self-interest.

12. Thanks, I listened to it. He's got his
finger on the pulse. Wish there was some way to get through to these people, but it will have to get personal (lost job, lost home, drafted kid) before most will wake up. In the meantime these godawful republicans will keep screwing them over.

7. Mc Cain might actually be a spoiler for Barr's Libertarian ticket.
Face facts. Mc Cain is the republicans favorite whiping post. They know they are gonna take a beating in the election. They have sent Mc Cain out to take that beating for them.

8. The ones who can beat us
is us.
Don't underestimate McCain (Sounds difficult, I admit) or the overriding idiocy of the right and the media. There are still a lot of people who LOVE GWB, think McC is liberal.

It ain't over till its over.

11. The number of people who love GWB
seems to have dropped a bit, from what I heard the other day

His approval ratings, up around 90% right after 9/11, are down around 32% now.

Anyway, I heard a part of a speech McCain made in which he lauds himself for being...let me paraphrase here....a light in the darkness, someone who has stood on principle and his own morals in defiance of "partisanship", blah blah blah"

And I thought....hmmmm....what a perfect opportunity for someone to "accidentally" appear behind him holding up that infamous photo of him and his main squeeze, GWB, at the RNC in 2004.

Personally, I think the more often he can be associated with GWB's failed policies, the worse beating he'll take in November.

Of course, there's always the question of whom he'll pick for a running mate...Again, my own personal opinion, but I think people will probably be voting more for his running mate than for McCain himself...
