Will the Paulists play a significant role in the repuke convention
and/or the general election? How about Barr and the Liberarians? For all the talk about how split the dem party is, I suspect the repukes are more split. The MSM, unsurprisingly, has neglected this story, but the lack of enthusiasm for McCain can be measured by McCain's lack of fund raising success, his flawed showing in state primaries long after he had the nomination wrapped up, the response of conservatives to McCain's shifting immigration positions and the reaction of repubs on the net.

So, one has to wonder if Paul and Barr could act as spoilers for McCain in the general.

1. Wouldn't that be great?
...the GOP would love the dems to go all the way to the convention just to weaken them. Could you imagine if the Ron Paul crowd cause a huge disruption of the GOP convention? There are so many out there and they really, really care. They are the anit-war repubs and McCain is just not their thing.

Bob Barr could also take votes away from McCain on civil liberties alone and he's better known than Ron Paul.

This could be lots of fun to watch.

2. A Little Bit Goes A Long Way
First of all...want a scene of what the streets of St. Paul could look like if Paul isn't given a prime time speaking slot?

Gramps support is a mile wide and an inch thick...and the Paulbots aren't gonna glam onto him. The GOOP has fractured and I see the Paulbots joining forces with Bob Barr...sucking off 5-10% of the GOOP vote in some key West and Midwest states.

Remember, Gramps needs to win every vote that boooosh did in 2004 for any chance to win. Losing the fundies...who will stay home...and the Paulbots going to Barr will "Naderize" Gramps in places like Alaska, Montana even in Ohio and Michigan. It's all downhill for Gramps from here and having Barr siphoning off some votes sure couldn't hurt.
