Hahahahahahaha

You ain't BEGUN to get fucked yet.

Bend over.

Young people .... forget living in your own house. Buy a tent. I'd say a car, but you can't afford to drive it to a parking lot.

Boomers? One word for you: Alpo.

And yet, The American Moron is going on vacation - most in their fucking SUVs - this weekend at a rate a mere 1% lower than last year.

Alpo in a tent. The family meal of the new millennium.

1. The gas prices are the topic of just about any substantial conversation I have had lately
This is affecting the upper middles as well as the lower middles about equally.
Our town Doc has parked his Hummer because he says he can't afford the gas.
I believe it is going to be a long hot summer.
Something is going to have to give...but what I see happening is what they have done all along.
Conditioning us to the prices. Raise it .20 and lower it .10...rinse and repeat until we are conditioned to think we are getting a bargain at $4 a gallon.

2. Why are you so happy about it?
That's the problem I have with peak oilers...they want civilization to collapse.

21. I didn't have a problem with that idea so much
as the gloating tone of the message. The fact that no one else here has had a problem with it is telling.

22. The mockery is most likely directed at..
stupid people who voted for oil barons to make our energy policy. I think I've read enough of the OP to safely say that is the case, and I personally have no empathy towards those types if they're suffering now.

You called me a peak oiler.

Where do you get that from the OP, smart guy?

20. If the price of oil is going to
never come down, and continue to rise to where people are eating dog food, it sounds like that's a crash caused by peak oil. It had more to do with the gloating theme of the OP. I've seen the same kind of language used by people like Jim Kunstler. So I made an assumption. That and I was looking to lash out at someone on this subject. Someone posting a worthless, assholish post gloating about people suffering seemed just set me off.

24. Maybe its a crash caused by unchecked speculators
Maybe you have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe I don't.

But you jumped to an unfounded, yet concrete conclusion. That's what pissed me off.

Clear?

10. A lot of us have been howling for DECADES that we have to change our ways
while we could do it without too much disruption. No! cried the powers that be (and make $$ on status quo). They HAD to have every last dime they could get from oil before they would admit there was a problem and allow serious discussion of alternative solutions in the halls of government and industry.

WE did not want civilization to collapse, we wanted change while there was time to do it in constructive manners. Powers that be howled 'it will cost JOBS!!!' Bullshit, it WOULD HAVE created jobs, it just would have cost them some panic money at the end of oil.

The powers that be wanted this mess and they are the ones celebrating. They are hoarding all the wealth AND resources world wide and the rest of us will just be dust under their feet as they are left with only each other to battle for more wealth. The next wars will be industry v industry. One can already see the opening skirmishes shaping up

We wanted to avert this whole mess by taking action decades ago. We are not the ones destroying environment AND societies.

have no plans to travel after the end of June. Family will just have to come up here to see the boys. It's 3hrs to my parents, and 6 to my DHs. Typically, we take several trips down from spring until school starts. Not this year.

11. It seems that the guys wearing the ski masks and the guns
are now behind the counter of the gas stations, actually they are the speculators and the CEO's of the oil companies. It looks like the return of the Hillbilly credit card, a garden hose and gas can.

12. Here's your campaign commercial when we finally start fighting the republicans...........
Slow camera shot of Bush and saudi prince strolling hand in hand, pausing occasionally to rub cheeks.........there's plenty of file film out there. Announcer says " think Republicans represent you when it comes to fighting for lower gas prices? How'd the last 8 years work out for you?"

Go to $4 a gallon gas sign on slow traffic corner, and fade to dark. "VOTE DEMOCRAT"

26. Well, DH lives about 5 miles from work. We don't drive much.
He will probably start biking there half of the time.

And I am a SAHM with a CR-V that gets OK mileage, and I rarely drive. But when I go back to work it will have to be close to home.

The thing I am most worried about is food prices due to the fuel costs. And, having very young kids...what will it be like in 10 or 20 years?!

36. No, 1 1/2 years ago I said to my right wing neighbor that was
complaining about the price of gas, "watch for a dollar a year price rise until it gets to 10 dollars". I may have been wrong, it seems to be going faster. He thought I was nuts and that George would not let that happen. "Time will tell "I said.
