22. Omigod, look what the Freepers are writing about it
That is unfortunate. Hopefully it can be treated.

Ok for the THIRD time, Prayers for him and his family.

Prayers for the Senator & his family. This is sad news.

Wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

I’ve read in the past that Teddy is one of the senators who quietly goes to the funerals for service men and women in his district. He aint all bad.

Prayers for Senator Kennedy and his family.

No personal stuff here. I wish him the best.

I simply put myself in his shoes for a moment for situations like this. Regardless of anything he’s done in the past I can’t wish this on anyone.

Prayers for his full recovery from this awful affliction, AND for a long and healthy retirement from this point on.

This is a sad state that I would not wish upon anyone. I hope he recovers. That being said, I hope he never again is in a decision making capacity. This man has done so much damage to our country.

Tough prognosis, we wish him the best.

As much as I hold the “Swimmer” in disdain, I could never wish this upon him. Saying prayers for him and his family.

23. * Sigh *. You know, this "argument" is always made by both sides when tragedy hits a politician.
On every site (including DU and Kos), some people are decent and wish the best to the politician and his family, whereas others would just be jerks. I am sick and tired of this smugness that *our* side behaves better, when in reality, we have the lion's share of jerks operating right now on DU.

Red State is praying for Teddy:

http://www.redstate.com/stories/congress/on_senator_kennedy#comment

As is LGF:

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/30024_Breaking-_Ted_Kennedy_Diagnosed_with_Brain_Tumor/comments/#ctop

You know, there are jerks in every political stripe. And there are good people of every political stripe. "Our bloggers behave better than their bloggers" is a stupid argument, for which everyone "wins" the argument. Because every site has its jerks which can be pointed out a la Bill O'Reilly. Freeperville is very far Right, and I think the above websites are more representative of the conservative base (which in my view is VERY right wing, but not as crazed as freerepublic.com).

28. Amen, Crisco. Jesus said it best:
"And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye" Or how can you say to your brother, "Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye," when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother's eye ( Luke 6:41-42 ).

We need to clean up our own act before we start judging right wing sites.

31. They did the same thing in the past
Edited on Tue May-20-08 03:31 PM by Fighting Irish
I recall them getting pretty nasty when Paul Wellstone was killed. Then they ripped apart the liberal boards when posters ripped apart Reagan when he died.

In order to look less like hypocrites, they bite their tongues when stuff like this happens.

I have always said, let's see what happens when either Ted Kennedy or Jimmy Carter dies.

Me? Though I feel tap-dancing on graves is tasteless, I see nothing wrong with critical reviews of a departed's public life and actions (such as with Gerald Ford, who I actually liked and said nice things about, though he took part in some rather controversial actions). Someone like Dick Cheney, well, that will be a bit tough.

42. Pinochet was guilty of genocide, that's a bit different than Steve Irwin
In Reagan's case it has shades of gray. I certainly wasn't pissing on his grave and I felt bad for Nancy. But I certainly wasn't celebrating his wonderful accomplishments either. Reagan's actions with the War on Drugs, funding the Contras, and lack of action on AIDS have ruined thousands if not millions of lives. I don't think that merits people celebrating your death either, but I also don't think it merits being remembered as a great person.

33. What they don't realize is that we'll likely replace Kennedy with someone even MORE liberal.
I'm thinking of maybe Barney Frank, Phil Dunkelbarger, Jass Stewart, Rachel Maddow, Whoopi Goldberg, Carl Sciortino...

We're Massachusetts.

We're up to our eyeballs in Liberals.

We can find Liberals here so progressive they'll make Ted Kennedy look like Strom Thurmond.

Yeah, laugh now, Freepers, while you can.

Keep laughing until we pass a law requiring every citizen to serve four years in The Peace Corps or six years in a Gay Marriage before being granted citizenship.

43. pavlovian monkeys
What in the name of rightwing depravity has Ted Kennedy ever done to earn the freepers everlasting wrath? Trying to fathom the depths of their pinheaded sense of outrage would be an amusing excursion into the mind of the simpleton if it wasn't so scary. How do you devolve so as a species as to be like this?

Kennedy, even with all his power and prestige in the Senate and among liberals, has done nothing so earthshakingly radical in his career that it earns the hatred they throw at him. The way they act, you would think he had brought us universal health care, redistribution of wealth, and free cable for life!

They seem to hate him because they are too dumb to find real reasons to hate their opponents. That would actually require knowing something about anything. Instead, they slobber like pavlovian monkeys over finding a scapegoat with name recognition.
