Reuters Photo: Bush's facial expression tells me his Saudi visit is going really, really, well

U.S. President George W. Bush (L) sits with Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah (2nd R) inside the Royal Terminal at the Riyadh-King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh May 16, 2008. Bush arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday to renew his appeal to help tame record oil prices and shore up Arab support for his efforts to contain Iran's growing influence.

having been told by his mother to "be good".

The President of the United States spoke today in front of the United Nations, which would normally be news, but in the Bush administration is really just an exercise in make-believe. Condi Rice of course strode in next to him and sat by his side, looking fetching in her new shoes. Reuters happened to capture a photo of Bush writing a note to his Secretary of State:

12. Isn't that something? The so-called 'most powerful man in the world' sitting, humbled by the
Saudi King, begging for more oil production. If Bush was actually sitting at King Abdullah's feet, it couldn't be much worse.

13. Good picture....worth a thousand words! I think he is there because
of Iran period. I also think the much distained remark about "Obama's" foreign diplomacy policy is a cover for what was the big topic while * was in Israel meeting with Israeli leaders. Again...Iran.
After all if * wanted to do something about oil prices he'd be better off talking with Exxon-Mobil and Shell and/or reviewing the strategic oil reserve policy. He doesn't give a hoot what oil costs as long as it is high. He's in a rut of destruction 'til January '09.

14. good advance team wouldn't have had him in
a chair like that.

Note how the powerful head-of-the-other-state fills the chair with his robes and makes it throne-like. note how the resident-in-chief looks like he's in the adult room without permission - the furniture's too big.

32. He must have gotten a dressing down by the king
and a slap on the face to do better. Ya know, the election is not going well. It looks like Obama might be the next President and that is not good for Saudi interests. Vassal satrap Bush is not doing his job right now.
