In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a haircut that encapsulates that era more perfectly.

35. How to Handle Temple Tantrums
Edited on Mon May-12-08 07:52 PM by Batgirl
Can temper tantrums be prevented?

You can't prevent all tantrums, but you can reduce the odds of your O'REILLY having one if you follow these suggestions:

1. Make sure O'REILLY is well rested, especially before a busy day or before a lot of activity.

2. Keep a daily routine as much as possible, so O'REILLY knows what to expect.

3. Encourage O'REILLY to use his words to describe feelings. You might suggest words that can help O'REILLY express feelings, such as "I'm really angry."

4. Allow transition time when changing activities. If O'REILLY is having fun, he will need some time to switch gears when he must change to another activity. For example, if he's playing as dinnertime approaches, give O'REILLY a five-minute notice that you will be eating soon.

And most important:
5. Use a cooling-off period or a "time-out" to remove O'REILLY from the situation. A good rule of thumb for a time-out is one minute of time for every year of O'REILLY'S age. For example, a 59-year-old would get a 59-minute time-out.
