I just found out you only have to be 14 to join, so I think I'll go for it! The thing is, they're basically a third party, and will probably never win a federal election (although they've won provincial elections, and have a strong presence in parliament). I thought of joining the Liberals (other left-wing party, gets more votes than the NDP), but I think the NDP meshes more with my personal beliefs. That, and they're the only party to really take disability issues and queer/trans issues seriously (not in a tokenistic way, or just as an aside).

What do you think?

1. You pretty much HAVE to...
It's pretty shitty to see third parties and third party candidates used just to deny votes from a Democrat or Republican every 4 years. Politicians work best when they're at fear for their jobs constantly, and a substantial third party that's willing to break with a coalition and take their voters with them is the most reliable way I've seen to do that.

Good luck with it.

2. We could use an NDP here in America.
Hopefully, we'll be able to build that within the DP.

3. Go for it. And volunteer in the next election. The NDP are inspiring to work
for.

4. Yes
They may not win the federal election - but, you could help send another NDP Member of Parliament to Ottawa, giving the party a stronger voice.
