Breaking: God Smites Bush Wedding (not kidding)
Edited on Fri May-09-08 11:18 PM by Kittycat
Folks, you just can't make this up. As the news has so gleefully informed us with their vomitous fawning - Tomorrow is Ms. Jenna Bush's wedding. Well, it appears as though God isn't all too happy about the Bush's spoiling his weekend, and he's decided to let them know.

I picked up on this tidbit over at http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/9/23442/56449">DK, and decided to expand on it for discussion's sake. Turns out that Crawford is experiencing thunderstorms tonight (see current radar pic).

But OH my oh my does it get better. After all the rain to make the ground extra muddy - he's decided that not only will their shoes, cuffs and dresses be ruined - but it's going to be a bad hair and make-up day all around... By giving them a taste of hell - while suited up in their party gear - the high temperature for tomorrow will be 97 degrees. Oh yes - mucho humidity. And God's final gift is the wedding pictures. To ensure the worst possible outcome, it's going to be cloudy the entire day.

I only wonder what God has in store for parting gifts? Locusts? Frogs? Oh PLEASE GOD let it be a plague. I'd settle for mad cow disease from the unregulated beef, or ecoli from their waste runoff in to the spinach salad.

ETA: link & post is :sarcasm: for those that don't get it.

1. You know this is normal weather for Texas this time of year
no godly intervention

And while you might have fun with the thought of it.

I personally find it disgusting....

This is not Bush's day, but Jenna's

My wedding day was nice and cold... and thankfully inside. I don't wish on other people

Sorry -- he puts his own children in the line of fire.

I thought this was funny as hell. I'm sorry Jenna was born with that monster for a father, but she's allowing herself
to be used for his political purposes.

She can't control who her father is, but she can control which candidates she campaigns for. She chose to go campaigning for her father and therefore she can be blamed.

86. Didn't the dizzy twit also campaign for her father?
I believe I remember seeing her on the TV as she fouled my city and made some lame speech to try to make her parents look hip. (While accompanied by her equally dizzy sibling)

Bad weather on her wedding day is really a small inconvenience compared to the horror she helped inflict on this country for another 4 years.

No one's advocating she submit to the torture our country inflicts on "unlawful combatants."

Mock away.

Regards

Besides, I thought you didn't like Americans ... so you're defending a Bush? The woman is descended
from generations of tyrants, murderers and Nazi sympathizers. Hitler and Stalin's relatives aren't
being paraded around, used to support their ongoing crimes.

Edited on Sat May-10-08 10:05 AM by NotGonnaTakeIt
...he would have shipped them off to Iraq. It's Jenna's day, despite who her father is. Be thankful that it wasn't a big White House "to do". Now that would have been used for political purposes. What would you have Jenna do, elope and get married by a justice of the peace?? She's like any normal woman and wants a wedding ceremony.

And before I get flamed about being sympathetic towards the Idiot in Chief, it would do you well to read my signature line. I think that Jenna should be allowed to enjoy her day.

Now if Bush were to accidently step in a huge fire ant mound, that'd be a riot!!

24. low level celebrations
In the grand scheme of things I would be inclined to agree with you ... however, at the other site their views have not been marginalized and their ideology has not been under systematic attack for 30 years. Despite what they say there, they've been getting their way for a very long time which gives their low level celebrations a "poor winner" and "rubbing our noses in it" feel. Considering how we've been systematically screwed for most of my life and (thanks to the SCOTUS) going to be screwed for the rest of my life, I can understand the need to derive pleasure from anything that makes their lives uncomfortable or (pun intended) rains on their parade. Yes it's petty. Yes we should (and usually are) better than that. But given their complete lack of compassion, it is simply natural for our anger and (I'll be honest) hatred to spill out in any way that works.

As for it being Jenna's day ... like she's not a chip off the old block. Unlike some other offspring of f**ked up right wing low lives, I haven't heard her renouncing her father's "screw everyone but my buddies and then escape" ideology.

You aren't required to agree with the OPs sentiments ... when I encounter a case like this that I disagree with, I just ignore the post.

climate. Poor planning.

No matter what my feelings are towards her father, I wish Jenna the very best. Except for the fact she's marrying a Rove protege, hasn't disowned her father as the Reagan kids disowned theirs, she actually seems like a very nice young woman.

and I have not spent my life being followed by reporters and living my life in the public eye.

My daddy was a principal. And you can bet I was taught how to behave appropriately at home and in public.

I am also a teacher, and Ms Jenna claims my profession. So you bet I am going to criticize her for her public behavior. The fact that her father is a war criminal is just icing on the cake, IMO.

12. Your not from around these parts
Sorry to burst your bubble but frogs are a good thing. As are lizards, horned toads amd bats. Welcome honored guests at any early evening outdoor event during heat of this state. They are the predators of the real threat after the heavy rain event... The evacuation of the dreaded fire ant from deep underground to the top of the grounds surface, the onslaught of the mosquito, the brown recluse spider, and of course the scorpion. Locust and June bugs amount to comforting background noise at this time of year. However, another thunderstorm with large hail during the cermony, now that would be definetly make the cows go mad. Maybe even stampede.

If there is any water accumulation, the terrain may be uneven, and subflooring (plywood, vinyl) may need to be installed. Also make sure that the area is free of overhead utility lines.

Tent size depends not only on the number of guests but also on its purpose. For example, a 30' x 30' tent that holds 140 guests for cocktails can comfortably seat only half that number for dinner (and leaves scant room for buffet stations and dancing).

A general formula: Allow a minimum of 12 square feet per person seated at round tables, ten square feet at rectangular tables, and six square feet for cocktails or for ceremony seating. Then figure in the square footage of any extras like the cake table, buffet tables, and dance floor.

17. I do hope her day goes well, Kittycat isn't the only one probably
recalling many of the less than thoughtful behaviors noted by our press of Jenna and Barbara. Most of us view Chelsea as raised well to be a thoughtful well educated and caring person,
Jenna and Barb ummm, not so much.

Still her day is her day, not her dad's. Lets hope she ties one on for old times sake and has a blast.

I don't think those girls were as loved or supported. They didn't choose their family. At least this she is choosing.

I hope she has a wonderful day. And a Happy Marriage.

26. Pictures
Actually, wedding photographers prefer overcast days for photos - results in diffuse light without glare or really bad shadows. Actually makes for really good photos (they can adjust the exposure to deal with the lower light).

Now ... rain during the photos, not so good.

28. Recent observations and forecast for Waco
Allow me to translate the mumbo-jumbo below. Current conditions as of 2351 Local (11:51 PM) as reported from Waco Regional Airport showed clear skies, temperature 72 degrees F (22 C) and a sea level pressure of 1008.3 millibars. Because of the maintenance requirement (the $ at the end of the report) no winds were reported. About an hour and a half earlier a strong thunderstorm moved in and dumped almost 3" of rain around the area which will make it kind of soggy tommorow. From the looks of it, a cold front moved through from the NNE (see the surface chart below).

As for tomorrow, Jenna had better helmet up her hair because the winds will shift from ESE to SW bringing in a hot air mass that is guaranteed to be sticky. Expect the temperatures to hover around the mid 90s (around 33 - 35 C) and expect her clown of father to challenge everyone to a run in their tuxes and dresses. Although there may be a thunderstorm around 2:00 PM, there is only a 30 - 39% probability.

Just to be snarky, cause a pox on that whole fucking family, why only one photo? My guess, Jenna is due to pop any minute now.

42. I'm With You, Willow
The next step in this "wit parade," someone will wish the bride or groom to break a leg or croak on their wedding night. A regular laff riot.

I, for one, am just quietly grateful they did not choose to have a White House wedding. Otherwise, I wish the young couple good luck and God bless; they'll need it!

Okay, I am now returning everyone to their regularly scheduled (and well-deserved) bashing of the parental units.

You forget whom we're discussing.

While I appreciated Jenna's ability to distance herself from McCain in the LKL Interview, it isn't lost on me as to whom she's decided to lay down with (yet another dog). I wouldn't be surprised if this was a pre-selected marriage - just to keep the money in the republican family. And to help settle Jenna down, who was otherwise a constant embarrassment to her family.

66. SHHHHH....Jenna's wedding is a STATE SECRET
Edited on Sat May-10-08 08:57 AM by DogPoundPup
The White House has issued no press releases and the ceremony and reception are closed to news camerasOnly about 200 or so people will enjoy the tented outdoor wedding ceremony, dinner and dance at the presidential family's ranch in Crawford, Texas - known as the western White House.

The 26-year-old bride will wear an Oscar de la Renta gown with a small train.

Her twin sister Barbara will be her maid of honour and 14 attendants will wear tea-length dresses.

Beyond these few details, the White House and first family have treated Jenna's wedding as a state secret.

The wedding is a private, family affair. The White House has issued no press releases and the ceremony and reception are closed to news cameras.

For Crawford, the wedding is the social event of the year.

Residents and businesses have been busy preparing for Saturday's expected influx of tourists who hope to catch a glimpse of the bride.

There are references to the big day throughout the town, including an 18-foot (5m) metal sculpture of an angel with a white wedding veil.

It was gifted to Crawford in 2004, and is appropriately titled Freedom's Angel of Steadfast Love.

But not everyone is getting caught up in the wedding fever.

"Well, I couldn't care less. They're just another couple as far as I'm concerned," antique dealer Edgar Farris said.

90. With the disease from unregulated beef, you raise a point I wondered about, too...
...these "people", the republicans, are they never afraid that the consequences of their deregulation, i.e. no oversight ( of for example food industry ) might catch up to THEM, too?

I mean, do they have hand-picked beef, their own water supply that's never polluted and do they scan for poisoned products of any kind to be safe? (maybe they keep lists of the companies whose safety/environment standards they deregulated to remember what not to buy)

That they don't give a shit about other people, okay, but are they really that one-dimensional ($$$) that the above never occurs to them?

About the weather : well, if there is a God responsible for this, I hope this is just a warm-up to the warm-up of the real deal but a good start nonetheless!!

PS : I can see Laura Bush complaining about all those ill-behaved liberals gloating over the messed-up wedding on a next press conference... so sorry you hypocritical bitch.
