Republican government at work: Pay for your own digital TV converter
OK. It's not really true. They are after all offering you a $40 voucher to buy your own converter box.
Problem is, the converters cost more than that- (on average $60.00)

See from our government's own website:
"Coupon Progam: Getting a Coupon"
Question #8 Q: How many coupons can I request?”

A: Each household can request a maximum of two coupons. Each coupon may be applied towards the purchase of a single converter box.

Now, I realize that most people think- no big deal what's 10 or 20 dollars out of my pocket to upgrade my TV? But for some folks, the poor ones complaining about the price of gasoline, that's a good chunk of change. That's more than half the savings they'd realize from the "gas tax holiday" this summer. And frankly, I think it's a bit harsh to be penalizing folks, essentially cutting them off from the world, for no fault of their own other than the required transition to digital TV. But this is Republican government at it's finest: It's your own damn fault you are too poor to afford cable TV, or the 10 or 20 bucks extra to shell out of your pocket to stay tuned in.

A small rant, but Republicans and conservatives SUCK!

1. What kills me is that places continue to sell analog sets
with no warning to people about the broadcast conversion.

Poorer people are going to be in for a huge shock just when they are spending most of their entertainment budget on the electric bill for the set and relying on just what they can get with rabbit ears, just when food and fuel have gone so far out of sight that they're wondering just where that next meal is going to come from.

Endless war, wage suppression, stolen elections, and the rest of the crap the GOP have pulled didn't seem to faze them. Maybe this will.

2. Seriously, you think the gas prices
are ticking people off? Just wait until they can't "get their MTV" (or Oprah, or American Idol, or...)

6. They'll get their MTV because satellite and cable won't be affected
The people who won't get anything are the poorest, the ones who still rely on rabbit ears to pull in broadcasts.

They're sunk.
