16. Phasers on "stun" would be pretty handy too.
Also a setting to heat up water for a cup of tea...

20. To a certain degree we already have that.
They call it a Taser instead of a Phaser. When they develop the technology to vaporize stuff. Maybe they will combine it with the taser and call it a Phaser then? Maybe have a third setting that merely disorients the person. We are also developing that technology too. Why not incorporate it all into one multipurpose weapon? Arm every officer with the 3 D's. The ability to Disorient, Disable, and Dematerialize in one weapon. No more of this, we had use deadly force because the guy with beanbag gun was off or else where. The weapon would present the user with two nonlethal option and one lethal option.

19. I'd rather have a zat
(from SG-1) It has only three settings: stun, kill, vaporize. It's easier to decide without factoring in phase settings. (I know; phasers can be set to kill as well--I'm just being a wiseass! :P)

Plus, the zat is a cooler design. THAT's very important.

But they all need to come with a sound file of the original trek tricorders.

5. Without the tricorder, we couldn't hear, "He's DEAD, Jim!"
Here's to the eventual discovery of the aforementioned device.

21. I don't even see why they needed to have a Doctor.

The transporter is all they really needed medically. Supposedly that takes you apart at the molecular level. Coverts the molecules to energy. Then send that energy to a destination. There the energy is converted back to molecules and reassembled. Anything foreign to your body is filtered out as your DNA is used to reassemble you. So viruses and bacteria are filtered out. There really aren't any injuries or illnesses that couldn't be corrected by the transporter as it reassembles you to conform to a genetic map of a healthy you. You could even restore the dead to life. Unless your body was vaporized by a phaser. Then you have nothing to transport and restore. Sick bay really doesn't need to be more than an empty room they transport you into to allow the transporter to heal you by restoring your healthy DNA map. They would probably call it a well bay. Because you would be perfectly healthy when you got there.

8. I loved the original Trek series.
It's the only one of the tv series I liked.

First Contact was a really good movie. I loved the end when the Vulcans were the first ones we met.

9. Good news. Innovation in fulfilling a huge, unmet need, this used to be called
American know-how.

10. No, this has always been called human ingenuity
It predates America by vast stretches of time.

13. I wouldn't disagree that humans can be ingenious, but every aspect
and component of this creation came directly from America, including the basic concept.

But wouldn't it be more logical to get those goddamned transporters built so we don't need gas?

15. Going back to the mainframe model.
Sorta.

More like mainframe but with simple remote computers as opposed to straight up dumb terminals.

Amazing.

Distribute baby!
