19. Yay!
We converted in the Greek church but go to a Russian church now, so I'm still learning the hymns in Old Church Slavonic.

20. I am lucky but at the same time a bit unlucky...
we have Russian and Greek Orthodox churches within a few miles of my home...i LOVE the services...the challenge is deciding where to go :-( . I hope to make it tradition (though we are not Orthodox) in my new little family that we attend the Easter Orthodox service at one or the other every year!

6. Happy Easter to the Orthodox part of my family.....
It is the triplets' father's family, with whom they will celebrate. We did eat lamb for the first Easter, which is what we celebrate.

7. Christos Anesti!
It's almost time. I wish I could make it tonight to church to sing in the choir, but I've had a long day with driving all over for a bridal shower. I've got Easter baskets to put together, too, so we're going to the morning service.

My mom was to tired to go to church so we listened to Holy Trinity Cathedral in NYC on my labtop and we're going to the Agape Service tomorrow.

Have a good day tomorrow!!!

14. My husband has been sick ...
I so wanted to go tonight, but just don't have the energy. I will go tomorrow -- a lovely service in many languages -- but nothing can compare to the hair raising moment of the first Christos Anesti.

17. Our service this morning was packed!
Our deacon was ill, too, so Communion took forever with our one priest (it's a small parish, but we had 175 or so there today!).

I missed the many languages part. Father only did Russian and English today (needed to shorten things, I suppose). I missed hearing it in Spanish, one of my minors and a language near and dear to my heart. I got to read it one year in our former parish, and I found all sorts of mistakes in the book we had. I had to fix them as I read and told Father that I'd pull out my Reina Valera version the next year, but by then, he had moved on. :(

21. Stupid Local Faux News Report
Last night I was scanning past the local Faux Channel who had sent a camera crew to an Orthodox Church and did a quick snipet about Eastern Orthodox Easter...first of all, saying it was only a Greek holiday (guess Russian Orthodox or Ukranians don't exist) and that "it's just like the Roman Catholic Easter...only later".

A Happy Easter to those celebrating...

22. Wow, they sure did their research.
:eyes: I'm not surprised, though. My stepmom still thinks that there are all the different Orthodox churches because of some kind of split and that they all hate each other. Ummm . . . wha? I've tried and tried to explain it, but she doesn't get it.
