US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales target of protests by law students, others Friday when he speaks at McGeorge law school

SACRAMENTO – U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will be the target of demonstrations – organized by law students – when he arrives to speak at the McGeorge School of Law here Friday, March 2, at 1 p.m.

The McGeorge student chapter of the National Lawyers Guild and others said they will protest the policies of Gonzales and the Bush Administration beginning with a rally at 12 Noon Friday outside the Lecture Hall on 5th Ave between 32nd and 33rd street.

The law students will specifically protest Gonzales because of his adoption of the now infamous "Torture Memo" written by Assistant AG Jay Bybee.

He also has said that the National Security Administration is not precluded from wiretapping privileged conversations between attorneys and clients or doctors and patients, and described the Geneva Conventions as "quaint."
