Hannity thanks Swift Boat's John O'Neill for doing his part in getting Bush re-elected

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,255664,00.html

<snip>

JOHN O'NEILL, SWIFT BOAT VETERANS FOR TRUTH: Sean, he just won't let it go. You know, he spent 37 years obsessed with three-and-a-half months in Vietnam. Everybody else went about their business, had jobs, you know, did other things. Our kids didn't even know we were there. You can see it again the same way.

But the retaliation by Kerry follows a very — a pattern that's gone on ever since the election. They went and picketed my home during my daughter's wedding.

Kerry's commanding officer in Vietnam was a Captain George Elliott. Immediately before — while his wife had cancer, he received an e-mail, she did, wishing, hoping that she died. She did die three weeks later. He really should be ashamed for what he's done.

...

COLMES: And I'd like to point out, John Kerry is not responsible if someone sends a nasty e-mail to somebody or pickets somebody's house. You blamed John Kerry earlier in this segment for those actions. What did John Kerry have to do with it?

O'NEILL: Well, let me tell you what happened. Actually, they first picketed our old house, where we didn't live anymore.

COLMES: John Kerry did?

O'NEILL: No, his group.

COLMES: Did he have anything to do with it?

...

HANNITY: I don't know if George Bush would have won re-election but for you guys telling the truth. And as far as I'm concerned, you're all heroes. John O'Neill, you're a great American. Thank you for being with us.

4. Irony of Ironies
"he spent 37 years obsessed with three-and-a-half months in Vietnam...

Really? And what would be a word to describe a man who built a multi-million dollar lie machine to smear what that man did 37 years ago ago in Vietnam?! How about "obsessed?"

With the kind of unity and camaraderie guys like this and John McCain show, I wonder why that war went so poorly....

10. Followed by:
"Everybody else went about their business, had jobs, you know, did other things" As is in these years all that Kerry did was stay at home and ruminate on his Vietnam experience. As far as I know, he most definitely had jobs and a LOT of other things. Are these people completely insane????

6. Throw enough shit and hope some sticks
During the 04 election I had the honor of meeting one of the men who served w/ John Kerry in
Vietnam.

How Kerry won his Bronze Star the short story.

While on patrol his boat hit a mine and one of his crew was thrown into the water and at that
time the V.C. or N.V.A. started an attack from the jungle. Kerry got hit in the shoulder by some
shrapnel but he ordered the boat to turn around and go back and pick up the wounded man
in the river. At the same time he had the boat's 50 caliber machine gun return fire. Kerry
while wounded crawled out onto the front of the boat and helped to pull the man back onto
the boat. Kerry was under fire from the enemy's guns as he was rescuing the man.

The man who served with Kerry told me this story face to face in an old firehouse that was Kerry
state HQs in Columbus, OH in 2004.

Hannity is a just a tool of powerful interests who want to distract from the truth. And they are
doing it again w/ Al Gore now .... pitch enough shit at somebody and hope it sticks. The real
force behind this crap is Creative Response Concepts of Arlington, VA all these Tennessee People
for Smart Energy (whatever) and Swift Boat Vets for the Truth are just front groups who help sell
the lie to a ready audience on Fox News.

8. Here's the REAL problem with it - RW media STICKS to these stories while rest of media
and the LEFT media ignore the REAL stories and pile on with their own false attacks instead of sticking to the truth and REPEATING the facts.

The RW message machine knows what they need to do and how to keep the lies in heavy rotation, like they're now doing AGAIN to both Gore and Kerry. The left doesn't even HAVE a machine, let alone know how to craft and STICK to a simple message and RESTATE the facts in any consistent way.

What meager Left Media we do have moves on WAY too quickly - the RW takes advantage of that.

11. And this is why the RW is shutting down all Air America and Progressive ...
.... radio stations because although very small in numbers and with poor
signals in most cases "they" were very effective in fighting the lie machine
on the right.

In Ohio WTPG helped turn Ohio Blue and was good a fighting election crimes
too .... Stephanie Miller had tripled the ratings and then doubled them again
but that station got flipped to right wing hate talk right after the election.

This is why the RW hates DU and the blogs because it by passes much of the
controlled media.

I saw Dennis Miller repeating the Al Gore lies last night on Fox when Olbermann
was on commercial even though it has been debunked.

15. RW will not let go of either Gore or Kerry because they are truthtellers.
And both know FAR too much about the real workings of power.

7. Kerry is a liberal therefor he is guilty of all the things any liberal does
We are a hive mind you know - when one of us types a nasty comment about the Cheney bombing and posts it on an obscure website it shows that we are corrupt to the core.

18. Oh I don't think the majority of the U.S. knows the truth. John O'neill is the smallest, most
bitter man I've ever seen. For him to still be riding the wave of lies he created because of that bitterness so that he could deny this country a great president, is a breathtaking example of the happy ignorance ingrained in almost all Republicans. All the hate mail and protests during his daughter's wedding are far less than he deserves and are all
brought
upon
himself.

He'll go to his deathbed still despising John Kerry for schooling him on national t.v., and that's hilarious.

13. What you have to remember is that during the Vietnam conflict and beyond.....
very few I mean very very few reptiles ever went to that war without having a rear echelon job that would not put their sorry asses in danger. I have little respect for officers that served because their tours were only 3 or 4 months, while the grunts stayed for 13 and later on 12 month tours, all out in the boonies. Since I am on the topic I have absolutely no respect for the fly boys either they flew their missions and went back to their air conditioned hooches, again while the grunts were out in the boonies for months at a time. So when an officer tells me that he served in the war, any war I ask how many days or hours, and what was their duty, 99 times out of 100 they were some pogie assigned to a safe area. That is my opinion and if you will notice most of the right wing talk shows will have an officer on but I have heard very little from enlisted men. Hmmmmmmmmm wonder why? Could it be that it is a lot easier to have a Cheney bunker to duck into when the shit hits the fan, I'll bet the guys that were guarding him claim to be real war heros too. They and the swift boaters deserve no respect save your respect for the real heros the enlisted grunt ignore the rest.

COLMES was at LAMONT hqtrs signing off, and a cool NEDhead behind him held up the standard blue LAMONT campaign sign. Then he slowly turned it over, and there was a hand printed sign, "HANNITY SUCKS ASS"!!!!!!!!1

The camera stayed there a tad, then switched to HANNITY, who had a sheepish, martyred look. PRICELESS!!!1

19. Anyone know where these guys are from? I live in Los Angeles, and one day
I saw a car parked in one of nicer shopping districts near a marina. It was sort of new, exotic sports car (never seen one before but it looked incredibly expensive), and the license plate was something like "Swift Btr".

This was in the middle of the last presidential election season. It made me wonder how much money guys like John O'Neil pocket for their slime campaigns.
