I feel sorry for our DU brothers and sisters in the Bay Area

who are having to live through this clusterfuck. Street closures, possibly closing down the Golden Gate, what's happening at the Embarcadero.

Good luck on your commute home tonight folks.

Edited to add: In no way do I mean to demean the protesters in any way. I'm very proud of what happened during the torch run. I'm just sympathetic to those who work in San Fran. The traffic is bad enough on a normal Wednesday.

1. My friend there is writing that helicopters
are hovering over her apartment.

The new route is near her place. She says it is a mess.

3. I bet most are happy
to have the city shut down for protests over something more important than bike lanes.

They said it was a real mess at lunch. Tried to go into San Fran and ended up canceling.

Edit -- can't spell tonight.

6. Ah, I'd rather live here on a bad day than most anywhere else on a good one.

8. Amen to that.
I heard the whole trainwreck is coming across the Bridge to Marin.

Gee, I hope they come to Tiburon. Nothing ever happens here.

13. Yes
It's on the way to the airport. I've been watching the stream from Channel 7. I'm sure the Chinese Olympic Committee is plenty embarrassed this morning.

17. It was an amazing show of the power of protest...
The torch was delayed getting to the starting point due to mobs of people stopping the bus. It's been total chaos all day. They did manage to run about 20 blocks up Van Ness till the protesters caught up with them again. Apparently the protesters were watching the news coverage and texting their comrades the torch's location and progress. Very interesting day. Lots of disappointed people but a huge statement was made.
