1/20/09. A world day of thanksgiving?
The day Bush is supposed to leave office (I know some of you with tinfoil hats on are thinking this might not happen). I still have my mind made up that no coup will take place and we will have an orderly transition of power.

Now, this is assuming the Democratic nominee is elected. Do we have a worldwide celebration? Inauguration day is a Tuesday, and many of us will be working. Do we have celebrations in major cities worldwide ?I know it gets very cold up north in the evening hours in January, but would a thanksgiving march be something that could still happen.

In London, the inauguration takes place at 5 pm local time. Paris 6pm. And so on. Would they care to join us? Just masses of people from around the world congregating in major cities, celebrating the demise of the worst presidency in America's history.

I don't know about ya'll, but whatever happens, I'm doing something that evening to celebrate.

1. it will only be a good day if jr2 isn't being sworn in...
i don't think the nation, let alone the world, can handle another 4 years of what has been happening.

we need a break...

2. Sort of like Y2K
A global celebration complete with fireworks.

I plan to buy my first ever bottle of expensive champagne. Maybe a whole magnum of the stuff.

The only thing that would top it off better would be for Bush and Cheney to be arrested for war crimes on 1-21-09.

3. I'd rather wait for the hanging from The Hague. But that will never happen.
I doubt that any justice will be meted out to the criminals now in charge.

As for celebrating - I am holding off until I see what direction the winner takes this country. I'm afraid it will be simply a matter of a slight variance from the disaster we currently are suffering.

IF Clinton or Obama really shakes things up and goes far beyond the pap they are promising, then it will be time to celebrate. It won't take long to see what, if anything, changes.

6. I intend to have a bottle of sparkling cider on ice
and I'll pop it open to toast his goodbye as soon as he gets on that chopper to be flown back to Texas.

I would imagine that act will be echoed in work places across the country.

People who can drink will probably choose champagne.
