20. None recently, but my Dad was in Vietnam.

You'd think she would have learned from his experiences. Nam left him emotionally and mentally scarred. He's no longer with us, but he would have been opposed to this war.

On 9/11, my mom hadn't even heard what had happened yet when my dad called her and said that if they started a war over this and instituted the draft, he would personally take my then-draft-age brothers to Canada or where ever he had to in order to get them out having to suffer like he did and kill innocents.

My Grandma seems to see every war as a replay of WWII, which defined her generation so much. When confronted with criticism of the Iraq War, U.S. foreign policy or the Bush administration, she responds with, "But we're at war." I don't blame her. Like I said WWII played a large part in shaping how her generation sees the world, and she can't see beyond U.S.= good, whoever we're fighting = bad.
