PASADENA - Tonight, the Pasadena City Council will consider a far-sweeping ban on smoking that could make it illegal to light up in nearly any public gathering place in the city.

Under the proposed ordinance, smoking would be banned at all public events, festivals, even the Rose Parade and at bus stops and ATMs.

Proposed Law Would Ban Outdoor Smoking

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio -- Some people in North Royalton are fuming over a proposed ban on outdoor smoking.

The proposed law would make it illegal to smoke in parks, fields, parking lots and outdoor seating areas.

Council members said the outdoor ban is in response to complaints about people smoking around children during youth sports games.

2. While I don't like the stink outdoors, it doesn't
set off my asthma. I'd much prefer sticking with the indoor bans instead of overdoing it to the point that people rebel and start setting fire to the things whenever and wherever, like they did in the 50s.

In other words, there's a point where restrictions get so onerous that none of them will be respected. I'd prefer not extending the ban to outdoor activities and assemblies.
