Internet News Group To Expose Sex Predator
Edited on Sun Apr-06-08 04:16 PM by formerfed
Might want to bookmark this website: http://www.kanawhacountyblog.blogspot.com/

According to the below press release, and the blog itself, this news media group is going to expose a man considered a "high profile" sex predator on their website this coming friday. With updates pre-outlining the story beginning on Tuesday.

Prior to this expose', he has virtually remained unheard of for 30 years.

The press release and website intro are a great "teaser" for this story.....Allegedly armed with documented evidence, victim statements, video and audio tapes to back themselves up.

The alleged predator does not appear to be on a national level(yet), but if enough people were to take interest, it could be.

Either way, no matter where he lives, identifying one more sex predator on here, online or however, is a GOOD THING.

The band of former journalist & writers that makeup "PWDGroup" are not new to exposing corruption, scandals and other stories mainline media avoids. Their websites in several states have taken on interest from as high up as the US Senate.

2. Oh yay! Vigilante justice goes digital.
Sorry, but there is much that could wrong with this, including the fact that the man that they're referring to is innocent. Then there's always the possibility that something this group does will compromise the case so badly that it can't be prosecuted.

Sorry, but this is the wrong thing to do. Frankly, I'm going to laugh long and hard if this group fucks up, get the wrong person, and then gets sued into the ground.

Vigilante justice, no matter what purported crime is being pursued, is just wrong.

3. Or They Have The Right Guy
Or, they have the right guy, and he gets exposed. I dont think these guys go off on a wild tangent. But, you could be right...

11. They may have the right guy,
They may not. But if they do, it will be very easy for them to make the case completely unprosecutable if they run roughshod over the man's civil rights, or fail to follow proper procedures while trying to bring this guy to justice.

4. Ever since reading this site:
http://www.corrupted-justice.com/article18.html

My thoughts on these sorts of "vigilant citizens" claiming to protect kids have been reversed completely. They're just thugs.

5. Not Vigilant Citizens According To This Thread
From what I am reading, these are not vigilante's etc. Its a group of journalists who have actually exposed some corruption cases in several cities.

Its a proven fact that media and even state officials now use blogs and other internet means to voice their opinions and relay news and current events.

Personally, I think if they did their homework, and there is documentation that corroborates the alleged predator. Then god bless them. I personally would enjoy seeing a sexual deviant off the streets.

6. Yes, I agree this sounds different
BUT then again, with "journalism" ever more intertwined with entertainment I am hesitant to trust such activities. Consider how totally NBC is in bed with the group described in my link. They're in a deep pot of hot agua over that, now.

16. Call me nit-picky, but...
...I'm more inclined to believe "journalists" who actually know how to write. There are several glaring spelling and grammatical errors in there.

8. I agree with you on this. Their tactics and motives are reprehensible.

13. Or Applaud Them
Or, you could applaud them for getting a sick perverted predator exposed and hopefully off the streets.

14. Sure, I could mindlessly applaud them, however I prefer to take the long view on such matters
And in the long view, this increasing use of vigilante justice to catch crooks is not a good one. For instance, let's look at the drug war, back when they first started allowing piss tests and forfeiture laws to come into play. Most people thought that these moves were a good thing, and after all, if you weren't a drug user, you had nothing to worry about, right. Fast forward to today when forfeiture laws are now being used in all sorts of criminal, and civil cases, using the drug war as precedent. Also, piss testing has now gone high tech, and now includes hair testing and other intrusive tests, and the results aren't only being used to determine whether or not you're using drugs, but also whether or not you should get hired and get the health care benefits.

The same pattern could very well play out with this use of vigilante justice. At first it is only used against those that society deems reprehensible, then after people get used to it, it will creep into more and more cases until we could very well wind up with police forces who aren't out there to serve and protect the public, but are out there for fun and mainly profit.

15. Agree To Disagree
My thought is, if the facts and allegations are legit, get the perverted sicko off the street now. Our history has shown that eventually anything done for the right reason, ends up twisted into whatever is justified as it is needed.

So, for now, make haste, not waste.

it all feels sick.

they have something criminal on the man, give it to police, arrest and send his ass to jail instead of using it as entertainment for the masses.

12. Yes It Is Sick
Yes It Is Sick... I think the person who posted the thread did it just to draw attention? Either way, I agree, it is sick and hopefully they will jail him if it is indeed true.

Sometimes drawing attention to things like this forces the police to act. From reading the website, the cops have known of him, but he has been beyond reproach.

But, yes you are correct.

18. I have issues with "exposing" someone who hasn't been found guilty of any crime.
That's why the court systems are in place - it's not the job of citizens.

It appears on the surface that in this case, money talks and he has been allowed to walk.

22. Irrelevant, in my opinion.
Edited on Mon Apr-07-08 07:52 PM by varkam
If he hasn't been found guilty of a crime, then it's irresponsible to accuse him of such, especially publicly, and especially with something stigmatizing.

In addition, you're probably opening yourself up to a libel suit.

21. How special
What? They don't trust the cops? If this is a righteous beef, why the need to go Charles Bronson on us?

(For the younger crowd, Charles Bronson played a movie vigilante in the 80s .... or was it the 70s? I dunno. I'm old. I'll go with the 70s.)
