5. Fuck you.
No Democrat started this war. Not Kerry, not Biden, Not Daschle, not Edwards and not Hillary. I'm not going to blame them for not walking into a trap. If Daschle hadn't agreed to a just-before-election vote, none of these people would have been asked to appear weak on defense a year after 9/11. (Yes, I know HC wasn't up until '06. Edwards wasn't up until '04.) I for one remember the events leading up to the vote and the war. Frankly, when I heard Powell's UN speech, I was convinced Saddam was a threat. The war was all Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz. The D.s were just along for the ride.

8. I'm in agreement with your statement.
Biden kind of addresses this at the beginning of this clip -- it wasn't a vote to go to war, as many. I've always felt there was a reason for so many of our reps to support the resolution.

This is from this week's SFRC Iraq Hearings.

10. They supported it because they didn't do their jobs!!
They didn't investigate and/or read the facts and they went along like sheep.
They who voted to support the crazy bastards in the WH were derelict in their duties!

12. I understand your side of the argument,
and actually give it a lot of credence. But there was something that made them support it. Nothing is black and white.

Anyway, you and I will never feel exactly the same about this issue and what's important is that we DO share the same commitment to getting our troops home.

Peace.

9. "The D.s were just along for the ride." You mean some went along, don't you?
Seems you're still buying the hype and the BS.

Nice language. I think we need to call the Thought Police!

3. A Couple Of Months Ago
I bought the Bush Lied, They Died t-shirt. In the few days it took to arrive, it was outdated. Now if is almost 100 names outdated. On Fridays, when I can I go to Claremont with the residents of Pilgrim Place, a living facility for retired church workers. The Claremont Colleges are about a mile away but hardly no one ever comes. I am 55 and the youngest person there usually. Several of the most elderly that go every week have the t-shirts now.

4. Are the makers of those t-shirts still in litigation?
Edited on Fri Apr-04-08 10:07 AM by Breeze54
What is Pilgrim Place all about? Why do you go there every Friday? What do you all do there?
Perhaps the college kids aren't aware of what is going on there? Put up some fliers on campus!

13. I Am Not Sure
I think they were and I also am not sure if you can still get a shirt. A couple of months ago is more live five.

The students are aware of the vigils. When they started a year after the invasion they were also supported by the Claremont School of Theology and the attendance has gone down. There are fliers placed on the campus and actually the one on the anniversay Moveon members were invited-that one was a lot bigger.

Pilgrim Place is a retirement center for retired church workers and their wisdom astounds me sometimes. We are not talking neocon or terribly fundamentalist church people and there are ones that really did march with King, some that worked on Native American rights and other social causes. They belie the stereotype Christians are republicans. Obviously, not all of the residents go but I have never met a republican there. I don't think any of my favorites would be well known. They have worked for peace and justice for their whole lives in the background. I say this because T. J Ligget knows Nobel winners (Mother Teresa) and has talked about Ireland peace but if you google him you will find nothing.

6. Thank you. May they rest in peace.
The SFRC is holding hearings on Iraq this week and next week will host Patreaus and Crocker.

Although I'm furious and frustrated that we're still having hearings five years after this occupation began, watching the hearings gives me a flicker of hope that we will be making progress and initial moves soon, if this administration will listen to the Committee's recommendations.

Too little, too late, perhaps, but I get the sense that this Committee, at least, is ready to move NOW. And, I don't see ANY movement on the part of this administration.

11. Question to ask the war-lovers....
How many American deaths is Iraqi "freedom" worth? (Pretending that the glorious nirvana that the neo-cons advertise could actually be attained, of course.)

There must be a finite number at which that "freedom" just isn't worth the cost. What is that number? 10,000? 20,000?

Why do the war-lovers hate American soldiers and Marines so much that they would sacrifice those lives for the sake of strangers...? Muslim strangers who generally don't like us, at that!
