OAKDALE, La. — Former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman left the federal prison at Oakdale on appeal bond today, saying he remains upbeat despite being incarcerated for nine months on his conviction in a corruption case.

‘‘I may have lost my freedom for awhile, but I never lost faith,’’ Siegelman told reporters.

Leaving the prison in a black sport utility vehicle, he stopped on the road outside the lockup to comment. He wore a ragged shirt that appeared to be prison clothing.

He declined further comment, saying, ‘‘I want to be with my family for a few days.’’ But he said he would make a statement when he reaches his home in Birmingham, Ala.

2. I wish there was some way to keep him safe - he is the key to the election fraud
back stories of 2002 and 2004, imo.

9. So do I.
If they set houses on fire & run people off the road for speaking the truth, then cause drummed-up legal problems for bloggers who write about their corruption, what do they have planned for Siegelman, now that he's free to speak out?

Who's going to see to it that Siegelman & his family are kept safe?

14. We don't let him become isolated again -- that's how they got him
in the first place.

We need to form a group like "Justice for Don Siegelman" and get people to sign on, and continue to promote weekly actions -- especially keeping the heat on the AL media. Whaddya think?

What we do here as we can is fantastic. But, if we had numbers, we could wave them around. lol

20. Sounds right. This is exactly the type of thing I expected the Dem PARTY to do when it happened
and it was plain to see by the end of 2003 that all of the issues were actually on the periphery of the election fraud.

3. Somehow, sometime, someone has to get the people that were responsible for doing this...
This is not the first instance of the Repubs and Administration incarcerating innocent people... I sure hope that when Obama moves into the WH he will do something about this.

6. Follow the OP link to see which Corrupt Bastards to consider for causal perps!
Rove may be just a tool in a very large, multi-billion dollar scheme.

10. I followed the link, very interesting information.... This thing looks to be huge...
The problem now is will Sigleman get to tell his story and can something be done to bring the perps to justice with the current Administration in power?

12. If ROVE is given a choice: Squeel like the pig you are OR rot in jail for life
Which door will he pick!

He could help Jack Abramoff with quite a few tunes  or become someone's prison pal.

18. Nope. Not while this administration is in power; but, certainly, thereafter.
I just hope everyone learned the lesson about these corrupt perps this THIRD TIME AROUND.

Otherwise, we'll just end up with another administration that does even worse things than this one.

Subpoena OK'd for Rove
By LAURIE KELLMAN - March 28 - http://www.reformer.com/headlines/ci_8727855

WASHINGTON -- Senators joined the House on Thursday in approving subpoenas to force President Bush's political adviser and other aides to testify about the firings of federal prosecutors.

While Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is not budging from his insistence that Rove be questioned publicly and under oath, Pennsylvania Republican Arlen Specter offered President Bush a compromise.

Specter, who took the first step toward brokering a deal a few hours after the Senate Judiciary Committee approved but did not issue subpoenas for Rove and others, suggested that select lawmakers question Karl Rove and other administration officials in public, but not under oath.

White House counsel Fred Fielding promised to convey the offer to Bush, but Leahy doesn't support the deal.

"I've had a lot of those unstructured briefings and found that I was given, in many instances, not the whole truth, nothing near the whole truth," said Leahy. ...

Time to go after the DoJ on their own turf, in the courts.

26. Just talked to his attorney's secretary again.
I've been out all day and wanted to know if he was actually released.
At 11 a.m., she said.
Guess I should have checked in here first for the latest.
Thanks guys for all you did to get the word out and not let this die.

He's on the way back to Birmingham and there may be some kind of gathering of supporters later.
I've got my name in the pot for that.
