10-year-old girl tried to rob a gas station.
FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Franklin police said a 10-year-old girl tried to rob a gas station on Murfreesboro Road.

Shortly before midnight Monday, the girl walked into the Mapco Express at 1501 Murfreesboro Road and demanded the clerk give her money from the register, according to a Franklin police news release.

The child then threw a rock the size of a baseball at the clerk, hitting him in the chest.

She demanded money again. The clerk chased her out of the store.

1. Somebody needs some attention
10 year old children from well to do families do not typically act out this way unless there are other issues.

2. This is unusual. I just wonder how this will be treated in light of the
'prosecuting children as adults' concept that Republicans promote. Considering this is a well to do family, I wonder if they will get special treatment as opposed to a child that lives with a family of lesser means. :dem:

5. Might depend on why she did it
10 year old children should not get a pass on something like this but her reasons for acting this way should be looked at seriously. Emotional problems, abuse at home, being bullied at school, self esteem........could be a number of issues that might get her special treatment or she could be just a spoiled brat in which case, send her to a detention center for a while.

8. On the news last night
they said she will probably not have to face punishment but will be evaluated for psychiatric or emotional or social problems. The only reason the clerk called the police was because she/he was worried about the welfare of the little girl on a cold night alone.

3. how do you know the family is well to do.
they could be one of the middle class families that are about to go broke because they are trying to have a mansion that makes them live like a rich family.

6. Doesn't prove much.
simply because someone or an article says someone is well to do doesn't mean that it is true. figure something is going on with that family to get a girl that young to start robbing stores.
