Boston Red Sox players stand up for their manager
and coaches. The Red Sox are supposed to play a spring training game today and then fly to Japan to open their season against Oakland.

But in a closed club house meeting the player have voted to boycott both the game and the Japan trip, because their coaches and manager are not being provided the same extra fee (40K) as they are.

How about for having each others back!!

Not all athletes (in fact very few I think) are selfish.

:bounce: :toast: :yourock:

5. $$$$$
Daisuke Matsuzaka and Hideki Okajima are national heroes right now. Playing in Japan is worth huge money to MLB and the clubs involved.

3. Way to make a stand, Bosox!
That's my team.

"When we voted to go to Japan, that was not a unanimous vote," third baseman Mike Lowell told the Boston Globe. "We did what our team wanted us to do for Major League Baseball. They promised us the moon and the stars, and then when we committed, they started pulling back. It's not just the coaches, it's the staff, the trainers, a lot of people are affected by this.

"I'm so super proud of this team. When we put it to a vote it was unanimous, we're all in agreement that we're not going to put up with this."
