US F-16 bombs Tulsa, OK apartment complex!
http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/03/military-planes.html

"Federal authorities are investigating why a a dummy bomb traveling about 600 mph crashed into a building at a Tulsa apartment complex Thursday evening."

The news comes to us from the Tulsa World, which reports that a military pilot thought he or she had dropped the 25-pound "inert military ordnance" over Kansas. In fact, it hit a densely populated area in Oklahoma.

"Two or three feet over and it would have actually entered apartments," police Capt. Rick Helberg tells KTUL-TV.

17. Thank God he didn't "mistake" a nuclear bomb for the 25 lb. inert ordinance
Right now I'm thinking the Pentagon is a bigger threat to America than Al Qaida.

3. something wrong here
I mean besides the obvious. something travelling 600 mph does a lot of damage, enough that three feet an any direction wouldn't matter much, I think.

8. If only the people in that complex had all been armed
they would have been able to shot the plane down before it dropped its payload. My God, when will these anti-gun types ever learn!!!!!!

10. Those of us here in Tulsa are just glad it wasn't a NUK YOU LUR device.
The guy missed Kansas by a long shot.

And to the person who said Oklahoma and Kansas look just alike, that's not really true.

Tulsa, in fact, is quite green and has a somewhat hilly terrain that would set it apart from Kansas.

Also, Oklahoma has approximately 11,611 miles of shoreline, slightly less than the estimated combined general (nontidal) coastline of the Atlantic, Gulf, Pacific, and Arctic Coasts (12,383 miles). So, there's a lot of water around which isn't found in Kansas.

The missile hit the utility room on the side of the apartment building. A few feet left or right, and the missile would have sailed into apartments.

12. Well, with all the cutbacks in the military
when you are flying, preparing to run a bombing simulation and trying to use a map from a gas station to figure out where you are, all at the same time, mistakes can happen.

13. That jogged my memory to the "strange " case of Captain Craig Button, an A-10 pilot
that broke formation during his first live bomb exercise over Arizona and flew into Colorado with a ton of high-explosives (4-500lb bombs) in April 1997.

A very "strange" case indeed, and so is this report.

Bomb bomb bomb
Bomb bomb Iran
:nuke:
