What do you think about these comments?
Just can't see (a guy the poster disagrees with) having a beer or changing his oil.....

He would need some expensive beer with a name hard to pronounce. Wonder if he ever has changed his oil in his car? Would be know how? Ever cut his grass? Ever sweated even?

Do I like some of his views? Yes. No doubt.

But, the guy is a typical elitist softie. Arrrrrggg!!!!

Thoughts?

2. Who what?
Who said it? Who were they talking about?

Both are beside the point.

I'm sad to see the idea that a guy being anything less than a beer-guzzling, sweaty, freelance mechanic is somehow bad. That stuff needs to stop.

3. I saw the comments in another thread
Felt it was merely an example of a sourpuss attitude since the gentleman in question did something the poster obviously didn't like.

Funny, my husband drinks beer with names that are hard to pronounce. But he knows how to change oil--and change engines, for that matter. He's a master mechanic. The poster was overgeneralizing a WHOLE lot.

5. a lot of people who work on their car really have no business near anything mechanical.
as for cheap beer, life is too short, can't afford good beer than make it a treat and just have it when you can afford it.

at the very least, lack taste--only guzzle cheap beer. I know this is not always the case. My husband also listens to classical music, works on computers in his spare time, and reads esoteric spiritual literature. Not what people generally think a mechanic would do. My point is that it is very easy to stereotype people by their occupation.

11. Men are great--its the little boys that never grew up that get me down
and they aren't every man by a long shot.

I feel I am very lucky to have known many MEN in my lifetime.

9. My Granpa was blue collar, he owned a plumbing business but was still a plumber
and a big ole liberal with lots of book learning. He also only hired union workers, he was one of the besdt people i was lucky enough to ever know.
