Just Which Representatives/Senators Are Negotiating The FISA Deal?
Shouldn't this be done by a regular Conference Committee and shouldn't we know which Senators and Representatives will be the conferees? All I keep seeing is that somewhere, somehow, in some mysterious place there are 'negotiations' going on. What about a little god dam sunlight on Government on this one. If we are giving immunity to the Telecoms at least let me know who the traitors are who are doing it.

2. I wonder if Conyers and Leahy are actively involved?

4. So on two consecutive days
the Reptilians refuse to show up. IMO, it (FISA Bill) should be dropped never to be brought up again. Every time * and his Reptilians whine about it remind them how they had their little tantrum, walked out of the House in a snit and refuse to participate in the negotiations.

5. This should be more widely known. Why are they never held accountable?

Lots of threads here saying the dems are going to cave again, but this is the first I heard that the REPUBLICANS REFUSED TO SHOW UP FOR THE NEGOTIATIONS.

“Today, our staffs met again in what should have been a bipartisan, bicameral meeting
with our Republican colleagues’ staffs and Administration officials to continue working
through the recess period on important reforms to FISA. Again, the Republicans refused
to join the dialogue. And today, neither the Justice Department nor the Director of
National Intelligence sent representatives.
Today was another missed opportunity.

“Further politicizing the debate, the Administration today announced that they believe
there have been gaps in security since the Protect America Act expired. They cannot
have it both ways; if it is true that the expiration of the PAA has caused gaps in
intelligence, then it was irresponsible for the President and congressional Republicans to
openly oppose an extension of the law. Accordingly, they should join Democrats in
extending it until we can resolve our differences.

6. Why in hell is the absense of Bush surrogates a "missed opportunity?"
Is it a show-stopper because they can't get a quorum without at least a few GOPiggies in the room? If that's not the case, then why not just go ahead and conduct business, eliminate immunity once and for all and to hell with the obstructionist bastards?

Last I heard, they were said to be the MAJORITY party, after all. There must be some privileges that go with the title.

Better yet, stick that bill so far up Boehner's sniveling, grandstanding ass that even Bush will never find it -- although I'm confident he'll spend a fair time looking.

And then make sure it stays locked up in committee -- you remember, Ms. Nancy, just like HR 333 has been sitting at the bottom of Conyers' inbox since last April.

Is that too much strategy for you to grasp all at one time, Madame Squeaker? I can break it into bite-sized mini-sentences for you if necessary.

7. There should be no negotiating this unAmerican Amendment.
