least 6-months jail time.

Per article, Chernoff and Mukasey announced this yesterday. I hadn't seen anything here on DU. I personally like Arizona's law better. Lose your business license.

Flame away, but I think this is long overdue. How would you like to be one of the unlucky ones waiting to come here legally? Or a legal immigrant who can't find work because illegals work for less?

1. I always thought it was a good idea to fine the employers.
I know people who own a small business and they knowingly hire illegal immigrants because it is cheap labor.

Some Gerogia chicken processor got busted. Local news splashed scenes of busloads of eeeelegals shipped off to the local version of Gitmo - processed, most of them given bail and a courtdate and they were off to some other state never to return for the court date.

The Atlanta paper and local news crowed about how the chicken business was fined up the wazoo. 3 yrs later, the business quietly negotiated the fine down to about $4000. ---which would be less than a penny in my budget -- AND they were by then, fully restaff with a whole new crop of eeeelegals.

This is how gubmint werks when in comes to just about all their laws regarding business. Now, if you tangle with a gubmint personally, expect a complete proctology exam and an empty bank account.
