PELOSI: "The Pres has nothing to offer (the American people) BUT fear.”
Pelosi, “The President knows full well he has all the authority he needs… we understand the value of collecting intelligence… we know the Pres has the authority he needs to protect the American people… we have two concerns, one is retractive community… the other is exclusivity…”We have nothing to fear, but fear itself but the Pres has nothing to offer (the American people) BUT fear.”

3. I feel like something shifted. Something tilted. Maybe the torture admission?
I am cautiously hopeful on the tone.

6. Sure seems like it..
she talked about it not being a Democratic/Republican thing, but the business of the people's Congress and of protecting the Constitution, and that if a Democratic White House had done the same thing, she would have been taking these same measures.

:wow:

5. Is it possible...
silly question, I know, but...is it possible the Dems have been waiting this long to move in order to keep an ongoing demonstration of Repug issues/behavior in front of the American people during the runup to the elections...say, 6 months of action?

10. Wow - good point! Let's hope so.
A lot of it's about timing. I've had a similar thought, though not so well expressed as yours, that it matters what they do in the second year of majority, not the first. Many Americans have political ADD. They won't remember what happened 16 months ago, but they do remember what happened last week.

12. It just seems to me that, with many of the challenges either of our
current "presidential hopefuls" would face running against the Repug's in November that a 6 month ongoing display of Republican Congressional behavior, which would underline the broader issues which they have been supporting, might , um...come in handy, tactically speaking... :D

:hi:
