WASHINGTON - The Pentagon is planning to shoot down a broken spy satellite expected to hit the Earth in early March, The Associated Press has learned.
U.S. officials said Thursday that the option preferred by the Bush administration will be to fire missiles from a U.S. Navy cruiser, and shoot down the satellite before it enters Earth's atmosphere.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23166344/Now I don't know anything about spy sattelites re-entering Earth's atmosphere or what the standard procedure is for this kind of thing, but I can just picture Bush* at a meeting with his advisors where they make some passing mention of the broken satellite and how it'll burn up when it comes down and all that, and him going "maybe we should shoot it with missles from the ocean and blow it up; let's make that happen" and the Navy guys rolling their eyes trying to convince him that this idea is stupid without offending him while he's stubbornly insisting on it and getting more firm about it.
Like I said, I don't know what I'm talking about, but that's what I picture.
