As you'll see on the page, it says "Check out the entire interview with Phil Donahue HERE". (Otherwise you'll just view a short clip if you only click play in the little video screen)

2. Are you too lazy to listen?! :)
But seriously, it's a really interesting interview. Ihavenobias didn't mention that they start off mostly talking about Phil's new movie Body Of War...http://www.alternet.org/blogs/video/68984/

Body of War is a 2007 documentary following Tomas Young, an Iraq War veteran paralyzed from a bullet to the spine, on a physical and emotional journey as he adapts to his new body and begins to question the decision to go to war in Iraq. From soldier to anti-war activist, the film takes an unflinching view of the physical and emotional aftermath of war through the eyes of an American hero.

As Tomas' journey unfolds, the film cuts back and forth to Congressional proceedings in Washington DC. Footage includes passionate speeches by Senator Robert Byrd as well as a running tally of how each US Congress member voted regarding the decision to go to war in Iraq.

Body of War premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to a sold out house where it received multiple standing ovations <1> and won the People's Choice Award (runner-up).<2> It was also awarded the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Hamptons International Film Festival. <3>

5. Go easy on her, she was obviously joking. But if you really can't listen...
Edited on Sat Feb-09-08 11:57 AM by ihavenobias
I'm confident CherylK was joking, hence the smiley face and "but seriously"!

At any rate, if you really *can't* listen you can still google the movie "Body Of War": http://www.huffingtonpost.com/phil-donahue/body-of-war_b_52505.html

Unfortunately there is no text version that really describes the rest of the interview. Phil talks about what happened at MSNBC (for example, they viewed him as 2 liberals in one, so they made him always have 2 conservative guests on to 'balance him out') after he talks about what sounds like a must see movie (I have to see it!).

And there is a broader discussion on how the media was stifled leading up to and after the war, and how his situation at MSNBC contributed to that by sending a message that liberals better shut up and fall in line WRT Bush and Iraq, etc, otherwise they'd lose their job. Of course my summary really isn't doing it justice.

7. I find Donahue hard to understand, and he seems to be rambling quite a bit...
...as if unsure of himself. Or just tired, or just very old. Is there some new information here, or is he just telling us what some of us already knew?

know about the MSNBC stuff, but you may not know about this new movie about the war, or about how he feels about KO.
