Repuke reaction to Berkeley City Council telling the Marines to take a hike
Conservative bloggers and Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, R-South Carolina, lashed out at Berkeley following Tuesday's resolution. DeMint said he would draft legislation to strip the city of federal money, including funds destined for UC Berkeley, for school lunches in the Berkeley Unified School District and public safety.

"The First Amendment gives the City of Berkeley the right to be idiotic, but from now on they should do it with their own money," DeMint said in a statement.

2. That's telling 'em, Mr. DeMent!
You know what would really show those libruls? Resign from the Senate and enlist. That would really put your money where your mouth is. Come on, Jim. You know you want to. You've been sniffing those jocks for years; now's your chance to get in the game when it really matters.

7. Why do the Marines even want a recruiting station in Berkeley?
To piss off the people who live there that;s why. There is no fucking way in hell that station is cost effective in signing up new Marines. If they really gave a shit about new enlistees they should move that station to Mr Demento's home state of SC where people apparently love the war.

Except from what I've heard they ain't signing up very fast there either.

Ya gotta love Berzerkeley. I have since I spent a good part of the 60's there.

Heh. Perhaps, Mr. DeMint would like to try that tactic here in South Carolina. We'll see if, when applied, it raises the average IQ found in the citizenry. Somehow, I don't feel it's going to work, but who knows? One thing's for sure: Mr. DeMint has high credibility when addressing the issue of idiocy. He has personal experience!

10. Then they shouldn't pay any federal money, either. Oh-- that's no good?

Areas like Berkely pay alot more money in taxes than they get back. Can DeMint say that about his own area?
