LTTE - check where the author lives before reading his letter - LOLOLOL!!
This is warming?

The globe is warming! Oh, my! The globe is warming! Gloom, despair and agony on us! Deep, dark depression, excessive misery!

If Minnesota and the Dakotas were enduring more than 50 heat-related deaths in recent days, it might be easier to take the global-warming hysteria seriously.

Unfortunately, our lying eyes, shivering bodies and slip-sliding little feet are telling us something different: schools closed, highways shut down, below-normal temperatures, citrus crops ruined, snow in the South, in Texas, in the Midwest.

But don’t lose heart. The prophets of global warming won’t be deterred from wringing their hands and trying to save us from something that isn’t happening.

Congress will plow full speed ahead to rescue us from this global-warming trend in spite of our lying eyes.

They couldn’t foretell the end of the world this badly if they had graduated from the Fred Phelps School of Prophecy.

Bill LaPorte

Moran, Kan.

1. The letter after that one nails Bill's ass to the wall:
"Dates to mark on your calendar:

•Feb. 2, when the groundhog sticks his head out, sees his shadow and foretells another six weeks of winter.

•March 19, when the swallows migrate back to Mission San Juan Capistrano.

•The first cold snap or ice/snow fall, when ill-informed Midwesterners start up on global warming.

It’s called global warming for a reason, not Kansas City warming, not “my snow-covered driveway warming,” and not “my-deck-is-iced-up warming.”

16. Actually, the proper term is
climate change. That's why it snowed yesterday in Tucson, Arizona. That's why it was snowing in San Diego while it was 72 in Washington, DC. It's climate change and it threatens everyone's way of life.

Is that a bad road? I am planning to take another shot at getting to Pittsburg, maybe this spring. I have sorta been touring the state after my big road trip to Emporia.

Global and long-term

Dates to mark on your calendar:

The fact is, the earth is getting warmer year by year, not every day and not in every place, but on average. This has become undisputed fact by all who aren’t involved in the oil, gas, coal or timber industries.

The debate that matters is what role does human activity play in this, what are the long-term consequences, and what we should be doing about it.

That debate won’t start until people stop looking out their windows and thinking that they can predict the weather for the next 10 years everywhere in the world.

 I'm just saying more than one person can have the same name in a town. It probably IS the guy people think, but there is always the possibility its just a different guy with the same name.

If it weren't so frightening, it'd be hilarious!

"and yeah, if we had one ice age, why can't we have anotha?"

"there's no way we could affect things that much, and it's fuckin freezin outside - where's my global warming?"

"ya know, we had a winter like this, back in 1912!" *raucous laughter* "those guys are full of it"

then again, I hear this crap all over the place

14. Please do us a favor and forward this letter to all the scientists
who study the problem. They somehow overlooked this guy's keen observations. I'm sure that once they take it all into account, they'll realize they were wrong.

I am a little worried about this gentleman's patriotism, though. In last night's speech, the President not only conceded that climate change existed, but implied that it is an anthropogenic phenomena. Is it really appropriate for the good sir from Moran to challenge the President during a time of war?

31. Typical right-wing anti-science boilerplate.
Hey, Freepers! Global warming doesn't mean the whole world becomes the Sahara Desert; catastrophic climate change can be wrought by a mean temperature increase of only a few degrees Fahrenheit. One of the side-effects of global warming is the disruption of ocean currents that affect the climate. The warm offshore Japan Current in the Pacific has been disrupted by global warming, contributing to actually cooler temperatures in the Pacific Northwest. But the cumulative effect is one of steadily warming global temperatures.

What a nutcase! :eyes:
