Checks could be in taxpayers' mailboxes by June, according to an Associated Press report.

3. On CNN.com
an article said not to expect them before summer at the earliest. Yeah, that's going to help consumers. Also, is this like Bush's last rebate - where we had to pay it back?

7. It's a "tax refund" payday-advance..off your 2008 taxes
So..come April 2009, if you "would have had" a $1,000 refund due you, and you GET $1,200 this May or June...well you'll have to write a check to the IRS in April 2009 for the extra $200 they sent you..

6. If you don't make enough to have to file taxes
do you still get a rebate?

8. heck, it's not even a real rebate - it's more like a LOAN, dammit,
It's all a charade. BTW, if you get a sizeable tax refund each year, you're a CHUMP, giving the govt free use of YOUR money. Everyone should adjust his/her withholding so they come out pretty much even, with only a small refund or small amount due (OR, if you don't have cash flow problems, make it so that you owe THEM a fair amount (just enough to avoid a penalty) - that way you can make interest on the money in the meantime, rather than the other way around).

The IRS website has a VERY good Withholding Calculator on their website. You can make your withholding come out just right, and quit being a chump.
