I should say, for those who don't already know, this is a picture of John with his son Wade who was tragically killed in a car accident at the age of 16.

There's something about this picture - besides the obvious tragic overtones of Wade's untimely death, of course - that I just couldn't put my finger on at first. Then I realized...in this picture, John looks a lot like MY dad (about 20 years ago). :D I have this picture in my room at home of my dad holding me when I was a baby, and I don't know if it's the hair, the flannel shirt, or what, but there's something about Mr. Edwards in this picture that reminds me an awful lot of my dad back in those days. :) It's kind of weird, but it's also kind of...nice, in a way, I guess. :shrug:

and I am supporting Edwards but for those of you who said what a good daddy - what in god's name in this pictures shows that he is a good daddy - why because HE is changing a diaper PLEASE - if it was Elizabeth changing the diaper would you say ohhh ahhh what a good mommy - if you knew nothing else about John Edwards this picture doesn't say too much....certainly NOT that he is a good daddy.

39. 20 years ago it still was a novelty

for a Dad to change a diaper. My father has never changed a diaper in his life and it really wasn't until my generation that fathers became more inclusive in the day to day care of their children.

and my brother-in-law use to - I swear to God - use to say to me when my niece and nephew were infants - hey want to hold the baby - and almost every time the baby needed to be changed. I laughed my butt off a few years ago when my nephew got married and his father was holding my niece's baby and handed him over to me because he needed to be changed - 25 years later - only thing that changed - except the diaper - was at least he admitted WHY was handing off the baby. It is just a pet peeve of mine because when men did start getting more involved in child rearing people would ooh and ahh when a dad changed a diaper - oh what a good daddy - no he is doing what he is SUPPOSE to do....

That is a precious picture. It's not surprising to see him changing a diaper. He has always struck me as an involved dad.
