Kucinich for Speaker of the House of Representatives?
I want Kucinich to win the presidency, but short of a miracle(which I am still praying for) I have a plan B.

Even if Kucinich were to win, our current Congress would stop every bit of progress he attempted, as evidenced by their current (lack of)support of his legislation. Many people like to blame Kucinich, 'he's not a leader because no one will support him'. That's backwards. He is a leader and many in Congress are LOSERS! They will not support what benefits the American people. (Perhaps this is because they have diebold and aren't worried about having to win elections)

The majority are with Kucinich on ending the war in Iraq, preventing war in Iran, shutting down the phony war on terror where not just Bush, but the Dem congress is borrowing our way to poverty, ensuring China as the new world power.

It's not just the war, Americans want Congress to repeal the Patriot Act, End the drug war, Cancel NAFTA and create new jobs in this country rebuilding infrastructure. The way we can achieve this is by filling the halls of Congress with Democrats who support Kucinich and his policies. That means US!

Many DUers love Kucinich's ideals, and Love this country...how about running for Congress? You need only look at the current crop to know you are qualified. If we all work together we can fight against the money interests. Many congressmen have no competition in their districts, that is why they continue on. We need to fight for a new Blue Congress just as hard as we fight for presidential candidates, because the way the Constitution is written anyway. they are a coequal branch.

Please find the qualifications in your district here
http://peacecandidates.com/
If you already have a good candidate-excellent-please post their info on the states pages.
Otherwise, consider running yourself. Often the fees are minimal, and look around at all the DUers that will support you. WE are the change we have been waiting for! And when we fill the halls of Congress with DUers, we can elect Kucinich Speaker of the House and we will finally get the change we have been waiting for.

9. The best idea I've heard in a long time.
If SF can replace Pelosi w/a REAL progressive Dem., I'd say a door is open.

But you've brought up an interesting point that I've felt was the reason we HAVEN'T seen real progress against the * admin. & their crimes:

"They will not support what benefits the American people. (Perhaps this is because they have diebold and aren't worried about having to win elections)"

I think it can be just as simple as that. Repugs have promised to "make it possible for those Dems who will play alongto have eternal re-election security". That removes the fear of voters taking them from office, so they stay on the power & payroll tit forever.

No matter how many peace candidates we run, if elections are rigged, they will always be defeated.
Could it be so ironic that to achieve peace, we must revolt?.............

12. We don't need to get rid of Nancy- can't we just have a new vote?
"No matter how many peace candidates we run, if elections are rigged, they will always be defeated."

I know, I know...however everyone watching the early primaries this time is giving me hope for a real election soon.

14. The Democratic congress ...
is in the business of covering up for the republicans, placing Kucinich in the Speaker position would be in direct contradiction with their agenda.

Never, ever gonna happen.

17. somehow WE the People have to become 'the powers that be'
I know it sounds impossible, but we must take back the power! For the children...for the entire world because we are setting a horrible example of Democracy.

18. Here's one great peace candidate...
State:
FL
District:
10
Party:
D
website:
http://www.sammsimpsonforcongress.com/

We have serious issues to discuss. It's past time for a national reckoning, yet, unfortunately, contemplative, reasoned debate is not found on most network television or talk radio programs. Instead, we are subject to a cacophony of voices, sputtering diatribe and hyperbole with the main goal of being louder than the other. Is this how we are teaching our children to communicate? - Ms. Samm Simpson

I believe that when people hear the truth, great change is not only possible, it is inevitable. As we return to reasoned introspection - with a moral imperative - our collective social conscience will reject the fear, terror and imperialistic militarism that have reached its zenith in the Bush Administration. We the people can begin building a long-term process to heal our communities, our nation and our world. This will be a long-term struggle. It will require our collective sacrifice as we undo the debt, repair the destruction, demand accountability and, most importantly, seek the truth.

20. I would support it
Not only are his ideas good, he has a knack for recruiting very good staff and running a top notch organization. He's also good at getting media coverage - something Dems need to advance an agenda in Congress.

22. Example of who needs to go...
MR. PORK
DON YOUNG (R-ALASKA)

Powerful enough to earn the moniker "Alaska's Third Senator," this seventeen-term congressman and former tugboat captain knows how to haul home the bacon. Thanks in no small part to his efforts, Alaskans receive $1.87 in federal funds for every dollar they contribute in taxes. Last year, Young leveraged his post as chairman of the House Transportation Committee to stuff the highway bill -- "like a turkey," in his own words -- with nearly $1 billion in pork-barrel projects for his home state.

More than $400 million of the money was earmarked for two separate "bridges to nowhere." One, nearly as long as the Golden Gate, would serve an island community of only fifty people. The second, a monument to waste known as "Don Young's Way," would connect Anchorage to a patch of scarcely habitable marshland.

"These two bridges are the most egregious example of government waste we've ever seen," says Tom Schatz, president of Citizens Against Government Waste. Even the conservative Heritage Foundation called one of Young's bridges a "national embarrassment." But the congressman refused to scrap the projects. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when Sen. John McCain proposed that Young redirect his prized pork money to help rebuild New Orleans, Young accused his detractors of "ignorance and stupidity." The victims of Katrina, he suggested, "can kiss my ear!"

23. I absolutely support Dennis Kucinich as Speaker of the House
and I would also like to see Chris Dodd as Senate Majority Leader. Now we just need a President to go with those two in order to get things done.

he doesn't toe the party line and is too much of a maverick . . . the chances of it happening are zero and none . . .

28. Back so soon?
I'm supporting Peter Welch again this year. He's voting against spending for the Iraq War. He was one of 46 dems who voted against that insane crap the other day about the NIE and Iran. He's in the vanguard re climate change. I wish he supported impeachment, but he doesn't. He won't vote for Dennis for Speaker, and anyway Dennis won't run for Speaker. I'm not going to vote against him for some hare brained scheme. And that's all this is.
