5. Perhaps it has more to do with the DU rules about fundraising....

I believe that anyone who wants to post links and solicit donations here at DU has to either do so through the DU Marketplace or request permission from DU admins for an exception in other forums.

It's clearly spelled out in the DU rules here.

Common sense to read the rules and common courtesy to find out if fundraising is allowed on a message board before busting out the advertising.

Especially in a forum in which the lead thread, stickied to the top of the forum by the owner of the site, reads something like this...

12. The Reason JE donations should be made through his website is for Matching Funds

I don't think the DU Admins should prohibit us trying to raise funds for a candidate who is being shut out of the Democratic Process, by the media.

This is a means to help raise awareness about a candidate who isn't raking in the dough like his opponents. I guess we'll see how this plays out I guess.

And I understand the desire of Edwards supporters, like any other candidate's supporters, to maximize their campaign contribution potential.

I also understand that every member here agreed to follow some basic rules and protocol when they registered here. This isn't about holding Edwards down or elevating any other candidates. The same rules apply to everyone here, no matter what their views or who they support.

It really isn't that hard to understand, is it?

However...Maybe Skinner would just post a separate link to run all the time because Edwards donations CANNOT go through ActBlue because he doesn't receive matching funds.
Somehow I am SURE that Skinner wouldn't want to leave a candidate out of the process.

the fundraising rules apply to personal solicitations like the very recent campaign to acquire a power chair for a fellow DUer.

I don't know why this is such a burning issue for you but you're welcome to take it up with the Admins (and while you're at it, don't forget to search out all those OTHER posts that are also promoting today's fund drive for Edwardds, fair being fair.)

I'm an old DU has-been and not here very often these days. I'm guessing that your interpretation of the rules is probably more current and accurate than mine.

This is not a burning issue for me. Just a reaction to something I saw as casual dismissal of the guidelines of a site I've been a part of for several years now.

I'll leave it at that.
