Are they doing the Recount with the same machines?
"there were some 550 ballots that were not read by the op-scan at all. They were seen as blank ballots. Officials there noticed the problem, and then hand-counted some 3000 ballots after the error was discovered."

Only when a mistake is found they recount by hand??

Does anyone know what's going on here?

ADDITIONALLY...Public records requests are being made on the spot, for errors and malfunctions at various voting precincts. An early review of the error forms turned over from the public record request made by Election Integrity experts overseeing the counting, has revealed that in Stratham there were some 550 ballots that were not read by the op-scan at all. They were seen as blank ballots. Officials there noticed the problem, and then hand-counted some 3000 ballots after the error was discovered.

Apparently, as we've seen elsewhere, voters were given the wrong pen to use and the op-scanners did not "see" this particular type of ink.

I dont' think he's saying that the recount is being done on machines.

5. Nope. Workers for the state hold up each ballot before the observers...
Nope. Workers for the state hold up each ballot before the
observers (with Clinton and Kuch observers being the only
ones who cared to be present), indicate which candidate's
pile they're going to place the ballot onto, and then
wait for the observers to assent to that decision.

If all the observers agree, the ballot goes on that
candidate's pile. If an observer objects, the ballot goes
to the Secretary of State for a decision. The observers
can then accept that decision or challenge further.

6. You know all those standard tests that required you to use #2 pencil
apparently the opscan is sensitive to which ink is used.

Ridiculous and funny in a can you believe it kind of way

7. They hand count them and witnesses verify as they do it.
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 02:24 PM by Marrah_G
Each ballot is looked at and each witness check it before it is put in the correct pile.

In the case of the ink issue- those ballots were counted by hand when the problem was noticed.
