Can a candidate give his/her delegates to another candidate at any point?

Or does he/she have to wait until the convention? I am trying to understand the way this stuff works, and wikipedia didn't have any information about it.

1. They can't "give" their delegates to anyone...

They can withdraw from the race at any time, endorse another candidate, and call on all their delegates to vote for that person but, once they've withdrawn, those delegates are all officially uncommitted, and may back whichever candidate they choose.
