Phrases I'd like to see removed from our "news" vocabulary
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 03:20 PM by SoCalDem
"Move forward"
"Get past it"
"Move On" (not the organization..just the term)
"Credit Crunch"
"Election glitch"
"Real Estate Slump"

All of these are "passive"..as in "hey there's nothing we could do about it"..it just "happened"..and of course there's nothing to be learned form any of the underlying REASONS these things happened...we just need to shove them under the rug with the rest of the shit under there..and go watch American Idol..or Lost..or Desperate Housewives....

and in other news:
"Missing woman" (blonde or otherwise)
"Britney Spears"

4. "That's incredible." "Absolutely right, John."
I'm incredibly, absolutely sick of the overuse of these words by newscasters.

8. You know what word really annoys me? "Amazing". People use it all the time, but
there really is very little in life that qualifies as "amazing". Totally cheapened by common use.
