Y'know, I think we actually MIGHT be approaching the End of Days
At least with shit like this going on:

Huckabee: Amend Constitution to be in 'God's standards'

The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks it's time to put an end to that.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

When Willie Geist reported Huckabee's opinion on MSNBC's Morning Joe, co-host Mika Brzezinski was almost speechless, and even Joe Scarborough couldn't immediately find much to say beyond calling it "interesting,"

Scarborough finally suggested that while he believes "evangelicals should be able to talk politics ... some might find that statement very troubling, that we're going to change the Constitution to be in line with the Bible. And that's all I'm going to say."

Geist further noted of Huckabee that if "someone without his charm," said that, "he'd be dismissed as a crackpot, but he's Mike Huckabee and he's bascially the front-runner."

1. I was just commenting on this in another thread--if he gets anywhere near
the WH, I will seriously have to consider giving up my U.S. citizenship.

2. UFO sightings over Texas last 2 weeks
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/US/01/14/ufo.sightings.ap/index.html

"People wonder what in the world it is because this is the Bible Belt, and everyone is afraid it's the end of times," said Steve Allen, a freight company owner and pilot who said the object he saw last week was a mile long and half a mile wide. "It was positively, absolutely nothing from these parts."

30. "The Air Force no longer investigates UFOs."
Interesting.

Figures Fundies would think "end times" instead of anything else.

Maybe God is an "alien" from another solar system, and we are his experiment in creation+evolution:)

*pander, pander, pander*

The funny thing is that he might do it- but the laws will never apply to the top 1% or the republican party. His "base" often forget that.

7. while i believe he truly wants to do this
i believe that the us congress would never go for it. let's face it, even with a republican majority, they don't want their cash cow (rw christians) to stop giving them their pension checks in order to prevent the mean democrats from changing the country to an athelistic one.

9. Where would this fit in?
"if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off"

That would have to be changed to "left hand" to be republicanally correct, wouldn't it?

11. Huckleberry Hound
Don't you see the beauty of it? They'll run McCain as the grounded Presidential candidate (so as not to alienate country club republicans) and Huckabee in the VP slot, to make sure the Religious Right shows up on election day. Betcha dollars to donuts.

If you took the books of Daniel and Revelations away from him he wouldn't have anything to carry on about.

And their announcer dude. Looks like someone straight out of Central Casting.

22. He's such a nice man!
Don't "tase me. bro" for saying that! Read on.

I"ve been watching the after election speeches lately, which probably going to be the most in depth coverage a lot of people are going to get, along with whatever sound bytes the M&M throw out. I try to watch with those things in mind, and put what I *really* know about each candidate to the side. Try to get into the mindset of the uninformed public, which I used to be not so long ago.

This is what I think I see from that mindset.

The Democrats are that "uppity" woman who challenges all those men and then cries about it when they talk back to her; that "articulate" black man who says all those fancy things that I'm not sure I know what they mean; that pretty lawyer who is just so "angry all the time and can't win anyway"; and it's a real shame that that smart, handsome white haired guy dropped out of the race even though he "said some really stupid things sometimes"; and where did that rumpled, hispanic guy go, anyway?

Btw way, no other Democrats are or ever were running for office.

The Republicans are that really handsome guy who is "a Mormon" but reminds me a lot of that really handsome guy from the old Carol Burnett show, and I don't thing I can really trust him; that really, really old guy who has a funny shaped face and is really boring; that other really, really old guy who used to be an actor and is really boring; that scary guy, who isn't really a Republican but a sneaky "Libertarian"; that mayor who was around for 911 and it makes me really sad and scared to think about that stuff nowadays and he has a creepy smile and isn't he a "transvestite" anyway?

And then there is that sweet, nice, warm Hucklebee who really sees what we need and so he's a Christian, so what? He's uplifting and smart and not ugly. He's down to earth.

Frankly, Hucklebee scares the shit out of me. :scared:

I watched his speeches from Iowa and NH and found myself being drawn to him. Not that I would ever vote for him because I know what he stands for and I'm a dyed in the womb Democrat. But if I didn't know, or if the evangelical stuff didn't really matter, if I didn't understand it, why then Mike is the sort of guy I would feel real comfortable voting for.

IMO

26. How come no one has K/R this thread????
This is DEMONIC! Really? Change the Constitution?

IT'S THE FREAKING CONSTITUTION THAT GIVES HIM THE RIGHT TO SAY THAT!
IT'S THE FREAKING CONSTITUTION THAT GIVES HIM THE RIGHT TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT!

At least he is telling it the way it is. Does he, like Bush, believe the Executive has the power to CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION?

I hate it when people type caps. Sorry. This is upsetting. Being owned by the international bankers is at least bearable. No one wants to be subject to religious fanatics. :grr:
