MSNBC - Edwards is "playing the white candidate"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16710815/
DEMOCRATIC RANKINGS

1. (tie) Hillary Clinton
New York senator Last Ranking: 1
Don't put away those shovels -- just dig her out. We write as the political world tries to figure out precisely how Clinton pulled off this upset. Now, her biggest immediate problem -- low cash reserves -- will probably be solved by the end of the week. She has the luxury of being able to downplay Nevada and South Carolina if she wishes. There are many pitfalls ahead -- she has the same set of problems coming out of New Hampshire that she had going in, but it now seems they can be overcome. She still lacks a clear, concise message or rationale, she still has her husband playing an outsized role, and she has staffers who are now distrustful of each other. And now she has perceived electability issues; she won New Hampshire, but Obama is still seen as more electable.

1. (tie) Barack Obama
Illinois senator Last Ranking: 2
Obama still has money and message on his side. He has hurdles, though: handling the perceived "Bradley effect," which some are blaming for his New Hampshire loss; proving experience -- or at least presidential competence; and reaching out to Democratic professional women. He has the advantage in Nevada and South Carolina, and he probably needs to win both. The "indie" factor favors him for the Feb. 5 states.

3. John Edwards
Former North Carolina senator Last Ranking: 3
Does he really want to be the white guy, playing the white candidate?

1. I just saw this posted at C&L. This is outrageous and letters need
to be sent to MSNBC immediately. I've sent mine, not sure if Edwards is my guy or not...However, MSNBC is an impediment to public discourse, I want them to give him as much attention as the other two. Boy, I am so pi%*#d.....

7. Why don't they mention that all of the Repubs are older white men?
Why doesn't the MSM report on the diversity of the Democratic field of candidates?

Edwards is my candidate and was in the 2004 primary.

The MSM is so blatantly ignoring Edwards. :grr:

They are gunning for him. Expect news coverage of Edwards to pick up. Expect for the majority of it to be negative.
Edwards is the republicans nightmare.
They think they can handily beat Obama or Clinton. They aren't sure they can beat Edwards.

Just as in the 60s the Media told the White People to
get lost--stuff it. Unfortunately this hurts Blacks
and the Country more than it helps.

Then like a bunch of fakes they lament over Racial Situation.

Did they ever think to look in the Mirror if they want to
do something about it.

Yup, the white male candidate who could easily be a part of the good ole boys club has kicked their a$$es to the curb. And he's getting dissed for it by the corporatocracy because he threatens their greedy monopolistic hold on all of us.

25. I think they paired Chris& Keith because Chis has been with them
fr a LONG TIMe and he was their strongest political commentator. I think the network only has two choices. 1. Give Chis a stong spot on the voting coverage show. 2. Fire him.

I really don't think there's any space in between!

27. In other words
GET THE FUCK OUT you loser. WE are the deciders, we are the media-we want an Obama/Hillary race. We have for years now. SO get out already.

Because, ummm he is white-does he have to apologize for that now? Amazing how it's spun. He can't change his color.

Though I'm surprised Hillary hasn't come out already with being 1% black. You KNOW she would if she could. (Note to Mark Penn: if Obama is related to Cheney somehow you KNOW you can find something in the past for Hillary)

Oh and Edwards has a penis too! I guess that's probably a disqualifier for the Democratic race next.

31. What about equality?
I really am supremely disappointed that now that we finally have a woman candidate and a black candidate that the MSM is taking seriously, they can ONLY talk about it in terms of race and gender. How about we are all equal? How about we ignore race and gender and look at issues, for goodness sakes?

I strongly support John Edwards, but not because he is white, and not because he is male. I support him because he has the strongest progressive platform and is taking the correct position, in my opinion, on most issues.

That was it. Just, "Does he really want to be the white guy, playing the white candidate?"

I've said this before but it can't hurt to repeat it again. It's not about if she's a woman or he's African-American, or he's short, or he's older (or if he's white in this case), it's about what they stand for, what they've done and who you think will be the better leader of our country.
