Why is everyone so upset? I am an Edwards supporter and I live in NH
I am not freaked out that the results came out as they did. I'm not surprised. I know people who have been doing phones for Edwards campaign and for a while, they have been seeing strong support for Clinton in New Hampshire. And so NH's vote results don't agree with Iowa. That was Iowa, this was New Hampshire. We have a Dem Governor, mostly Dem legislature and we voted strongly Democratic in this election and in the past one. NH has a large percentage of indies, and you can not predict how they are going to vote. I know that the pollsters will talk to whoever they can and they have been calling non-stop until the election. I answered once. Then no more because it was too much. But I bet there are fervent supporters who are going to answer that phone EVERY TIME. They don't represent a true sample.

What I'm saying is:

1. I don't believe election fraud took place
2. I'm not happy that Edwards didn't do better, but I'm not surprised either. I believe Edwards will rule the south and rural states. Obama has been strong and the press has basically focused on Clinton and Obama.
3. The timing of certain events (the teary eyes and the jackasses who yelled "Iron My Shirts" at a rally) got Clinton a TON OF PRESS around here... it was all anyone was talking about

And there were polls saying just about anything you could imagine, so why trust any of them? There is only one poll that matters and that is the vote count. I don't believe anyone would have tampered with a single state's primary election. I think BBV was timely in raising a stink about it when they could have been doing this much earlier to make a difference if they thought anything was seriously flawed with the system.

3. because we need transparent and verifiable elections so this quits happening.
answer me this then

why the following? did they only poll in rural areas?

polling to hand counts = correct
exit polling to hand counts = correct

polling to machine counts = error
exit polling to machine counts = error

10. Who is they? How do you know they only polled in rural areas?
Where is your evidence?

And averaging exit polls from different pollsters isn't wrought with error?

You are the one making the claim, you have the questions to answer.

Clearly the perpetrator would be the Hillary campain since she won.

Motive is clear.

But your only evidence are polls who showed either one could win given the margin of error. That's not enough evidence to claim election fraud.

15. Your chart needs a bit of clarification
I have been trying to create such a chart but the totals are not find-able.

I can find percentages, but not vote totals.

Now under pre-election polls, the figurews only add up to 94%.

Where is the other six per cent?

Don't take this questioning as criticism - I am delighted to see someone undertake this work.

4. Edwards is on course for 3rd place in every state, even South Carolina
the only state he won in 2004. The south isn't going to be any better for Edwards that NH.

6. Do you really think Edwards
will finally get through with his care and concern to people in the South?

I'm hearing that is a hope at best.

7. Bravo! Well said.
I'm an Edwards supporter. The people have voted in 2 states only. There are 48 states left. No reason to be upset at all.

My main concern is in not allowing the Repukes back in. Everyone from the middle class on down cannot survive and withstand another onslaught of Republican fascism.

8. Thank you so much
I'm south of you in MA and knowing NH the results didn't surprise me either. Yes I wanted Edwards to do better but I knew Hillary would do well there.

11. It's absurd to suggest that there was fraud when the exit polls mirror the end result.
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 09:10 PM by mzmolly
It's when they DON'T that we have a concern. I too support Edwards, and he knows it's early in this race. Anything is possible at this point.

17. Even when there is an acknowledgement by the pollers that the exit polls are adjusted
to match the end results?

This is getting ridiculous. Obama lost one, it happens.

13. Thanks for your post...
Hey with what happened in 2000 and 2004 can ya blame people for beings suspect of Diebold and polls? Like John said that's 2 states. 48 to go. 1% of the population have spoken, 99% to go.

I still like the guy because he's got the right message. I'll give up on him when he gives up. In the meantime I'll contribute to him when I can and even volunteer here during Super Tuesday.

14. I tend to agree with you
We're Iowans. We quite literally quit answering our phone the last three weeks before the caucuses. With polling and campaign overload, and people with only cell phones, the population who is polled these days is likely not representative.
