Riverbend's blog today is heart wrenging.
She is who we should be listening to, she is the voice of a whole people...

"And yet, as the situation continues to deteriorate both for Iraqis inside and outside of Iraq, and for Americans inside Iraq, Americans in America are still debating on the state of the war and occupation- are they winning or losing? Is it better or worse.

Let me clear it up for any moron with lingering doubts: It’s worse. It’s over. You lost. You lost the day your tanks rolled into Baghdad to the cheers of your imported, American-trained monkeys. You lost every single family whose home your soldiers violated. You lost every sane, red-blooded Iraqi when the Abu Ghraib pictures came out and verified your atrocities behind prison walls as well as the ones we see in our streets. You lost when you brought murderers, looters, gangsters and militia heads to power and hailed them as Iraq’s first democratic government. You lost when a gruesome execution was dubbed your biggest accomplishment. You lost the respect and reputation you once had. You lost more than 3000 troops. That is what you lost America. I hope the oil, at least, made it worthwhile."

Man...man...

1. I remember when her blog was new...
She would talk with such innocence about how people she knew were talking and debating about the American presence, and she used to tell funny little stories about her neighbors, who were all real characters...
Now, she sounds like she's aged 20 years and lost her innocence and optimism completely. Now, she's just angry. It's so sad.

2. I think the day of reckoning is coming for everyone in the US

especially the morons, who care more about Brittany's bizarre lifestyle, or the latest soap opera between A-rod and Derek Jeter. Payback is a mother and we all are going to get what we judiciously deserve.

6. You're right. It's coming and it's too late to stop it. We have earned
what we are going to get and we have no one to blame...

5. Welcome to DU.
You're right. I read things like this and it makes the whole top of my head come off. I want to ask our congress people and the administration and any damned person who is standing around, "Can't we stop now? Can't we just fucking quit the killing and the maiming and the destruction? Isn't it enough? Isn't there something else we can figure out to do? Is this the best we can offer?" Jesus...

4. It is heart breaking to read
Riverbend sounds, not only angry but desperate. I can remember when she liked Americans.

She and her family need to leave the country. Thousands have left already. There comes a day to close down the house and leave. I wish I knew how we could help her.
