Then yes, it is a very republican thing to do.

I used to have them done but then I started taking kung fu classes so I stopped. They can be dangerous in that setting.

And now I'm just too cheap and stubborn for it to go back on my list of priorities no matter how many people say how nice they looked in old pics. :P

Plus mine grow in pretty well on their own, even if they are bent out of shape. Heh, still works for getting things unstuck and scratching or tickling or what have you. :hi:

44. Hah... I hear you there.
I spent a good few years in that state myself. And it is nice when it turns around, isn't it?

The worst thing about those nails IMO was they had to glob them on so thick (maybe just cause my natural nails are so bent out of shape) that they wouldn't break for anything, and so they would hurt like the dickens instead of just breaking like my real nails do. I sure don't miss that!

46. Disgusting, but it reminds me of a card that I once got.
It was a birthday card, and it had a picture of a woman who was standing in the shower. It was tasteful, you could only see her feet, head, and the shower curtain. The card said something like: you know you are getting old when you realize that your head is not the only place you get gray hair" and the woman in the shower is going auuggghhhhh.

OK, I'll punish myself now for repeating that. :banghead:

52. I don't dye my hair
but I love manicures and pedicures. Now I'm really worried - I thought I was a leftist all my life.

Funny story - when I was a university student, I was nominated for a position on the Guild and the most powerful of the left wing groups knew I couldn't lose. One of the assholes in the group was very vocal and didn't want me representing them since I always used Nina Ricci's L'Air du Temps. Well the rest of them knew I would beat their candidate so I won on a combined ticket, but I have so much fun when I see him in his gas guzzler with his flashy clothes while we live a modest life. I never forget to remind him of his asinine comments versus his shallow beliefs.

80. Oh, no! I am downright huffy about well kept nails.
No fake stuff. But I also don't go for hair dyeing any more; my natural gray is just fine.

Nails should be neat, no gross cuticle (mine is awful so I can't let it grow), and if I have any color at all it is a sheer buff. I have thin nails that tend to peel, so they have to be short. But I only go to the nail place once or twice a month. Pedicures help my toes stay healthy and look neat and trimmed. I do have them painted because I think it's ok for toes and kind of festive. But I go to a very inexpensive place so my nails don't cost a fortune to maintain...

33. Just follow these simple rules and you'll be fine.
Do go to an establishment that us owned and operated by registered Democrats.

Do make sure that all the products used are eco-friendly and check to make sure that they recycle.

Do check that the establishment supports unions and if there's one available that all workers are members.

Don't go someplace that's not within walking distance or at least on a public transit route.

Do make sure all those employed are getting a fair wage for their services.

As an added bonus you could also check the political donations of the owner before doing business with them. You don't want a closet Republican working on you that is only pretending to be a Democrat.

:P

40. Those nails are bad for you (a mommy speaking)
Edited on Wed Jan-02-08 06:02 PM by Madam Mossfern
I had wraps done to go to a wedding and kept them up for about six months. They ruined my natural nails and it took almost a year for my real ones to look normal again. Think about what they do to your natural nail...grind it down and then suffocate it in some polymer.

Quit now before it's too late and wear a bandaid on the damaged one until it grows in right.

OK lecture over - go enjoy yourself, relax. I'm just an old biddy.

It should be OK, I just refuse to spend my money in anyplace that one of them owns, works at, gather/loiter at, or frequent. It makes it difficult sometimes, but sometimes we (as individuals) need to make sacrifices for the better of all mankind and society as a whole.
