Letterman's WGA Writers Are Back at Work Tomorrow --->>>
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 10:24 PM by Stephanie
Leno, Conan and Kimmel will be returning without their writers. I wonder how that's working out for them? If they suck half as badly as Carson Daly has since he crossed the picket line in early December it will be one long night's train wreck.

The WGA is picketing the strike-breaking late night shows - will the guests cross the picket lines? We know Leno's lead guest won't mind...

We should all support the great, the talented, the funniest, the fairest of them all, David Letterman!

Letterman returns -- with Robin Williams
By Justin Rocket Silverman | [email protected]

Wednesday night's return of the "Late Show with David Letterman" comes just in time for Minnesota tourist Maureen Anderson, who was one of hundreds of fans lining up Tuesday on the West Side for a shot at free tickets in the studio audience.

"He is the absolute best," she said of the late night talk show host. "I used to live in a condo building and would totally annoy my neighbors by laughing so loud so late at night."

The box office at the Ed Sullivan Theater, home of the Late Show, had been quiet since the television and film writers' strike began on Nov. 5. Tuesday the sign promoting free tickets was back out on the sidewalk, an emblem of Letterman's return

Other late night staples like Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien will also be back on the air Wednesday, but unlike Letterman they have not penned agreements with the striking union that would allow their writers to come back to work.

So, while the Late Show will likely continue in its familiar format - with an opening monologue and a top ten list - Leno and others will be forced to improvise.

1. Do keep in mind that Carson Daly sucked long before he ever crossed a picket line
otherwise, point taken. Should I uncharacteristically stay up for late night, it'll be Dave.

2. Try to find Daly last week interviewing Hugh Hefner's "girlfriends"
You have not seen anything more cringe-inducing in your life. All he could think to ask them was, "so, you ALL have sex with him?" He must have asked that five times.

6. Well actually it makes it more interesting
Because I just saw that the WGA is going to have pickets tomorrow - which means the guests will have to cross (or not) the picket lines - that's drama! Someone better stake out Leno when Huckabee crosses that line. I want pictures.
