COVER-UP: Behind the Iran-Contra Affair VIDEO. Please watch
"What you saw in the Iran/Contra hearings was the exposure of the beginnings of a National Security State which believes it has the right to override the Constitution of the U.S. in the name of security." ~ Ambassador Robert White, El Salvador 1976 - 1980

For those unfamiliar with the background, you will find many coincidences between then and now, and some of the same corporate pirates working behind the scenes. Produced in the late 80s, it sheds much light on the aims of the fascists who control this country. Narrated by Elizabeth Montgomery of TV's "Bewitched" fame. Approx 60 min.

This also contains the congressional hearing footage of rep Jack Brooks {D TX} questioning Oliver North, and exposing the nefarious REX84/FEMA plan which would abolish the Constitution due to a "terrorist" crisis. Gee...sound familiar?

4. Excellent, K&R...

Bush Senior's involvement began with Operation 40, the incidents surrounding this were covered up in the Watergate affair, which also had the result of doing away with Nixon who wanted to bring peace to China. China instead became militarized, and a cheap provider of weapons which were sold to the mujahadeen.

6. Rodriquez was hung out to dry before, by the CIA

If you go to Larry Johnson's website, he wrote an article not long ago about many CIA personnel purchasing legal insurance policies. Sorry I don't have the link. The gist of it is, they (CIA personnel) anticipated the lawsuits and bought these policies to protect themselves. Smart wasn't it. If you read Larry's posts you'll see that not covering his legal costs during Iran Contra. He's been down this road before. LJ also speculates that Rodriquez covered all of his bases before those tapes were destroyed. Definitely, he has political/documentary cards up his sleeve, more than likely aces.

7. What happens when unresolved scandals take a back seat to a domestic agenda?

http://www.consortiumnews.com/2006/111106.html

My book, Secrecy & Privilege, opens with a scene in spring 1994 when a guest at a White House social event asks Bill Clinton why his administration didnt pursue unresolved scandals from the Reagan-Bush era, such as the Iraqgate secret support for Saddam Husseins government and clandestine arms shipments to Iran.

Clinton responds to the questions from the guest, documentary filmmaker Stuart Sender, by saying, in effect, that those historical questions had to take a back seat to Clintons domestic agenda and his desire for greater bipartisanship with the Republicans.

Clinton didnt feel that it was a good idea to pursue these investigations because he was going to have to work with these people, Sender told me in an interview. He was going to try to work with these guys, compromise, build working relationships.

Clintons relatively low regard for the value of truth and accountability is relevant again today because other centrist Democrats are urging their party to give George W. Bushs administration a similar pass if the Democrats win one or both houses of Congress.

Reporting about a booklet issued by the Progressive Policy Institute, a think tank of the Democratic Leadership Council, the Washington Post wrote, these centrist Democrats warned against calls to launch investigations into past administration decisions if Democrats gain control of the House or Senate in the November elections.

Sometimes, idealistic foresight blinds one to pragmatic consequences.

15. It's dj vu all over again.
from wiki:

Persons involved pardoned and reinstated

In 1992 U.S. President George H. W. Bush pardoned six people involved in the scandal,<47> namely Elliott Abrams, Duane R. Clarridge, Alan Fiers, Clair George, Robert C. McFarlane, and Caspar W. Weinberger.

George W. Bush selected some individuals that served under Reagan for high-level posts in his presidential administration.<48><49> They include:

Elliott Abrams:<50> under Bush, the Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director on the National Security Council for Near East and North African Affairs; in Iran Contra, pleaded guilty on two counts of unlawfully withholding information, pardoned.

Otto Reich:<51> head of the Office of Public Diplomacy under Reagan.

John Negroponte:<52> under Bush, the National Intelligence Director.

Admiral John Poindexter:<53> under Bush, Director of the Information Awareness Office; in Iran Contra found guilty of multiple felony counts for conspiracy, obstruction of justice, lying to Congress, defrauding the government, and the alteration and destruction of evidence, convictions reversed.

Charles E. Allen:<54> under Bush, appointed in August 2005 to be chief intelligence officer at the Department of Homeland Security. Allen's position at DHS was not subject to Senate confirmation. Prior to the DHS appointment, Allen had worked 47 years at the CIA. Director of Central Intelligence William Webster formally reprimanded Allen for failing to fully comply with the DCI's request for full cooperation in the agency's internal Iran-Contra scandal investigation. However coworkers of Allen pointed out that Webster reprimanded the one person in the CIA who had brought his suspicions of a funds diversion to Robert Gates.

Need I add that Gates is now the current Secretary of Defense?

18. This documentary made me go to Wikipedia to read more about her
and it states that she was a champion for Liberal causes and even led as co-Grand Marshal at a Gay Pride Parade in Los Angeles.

She also narrated an Acadamey Award documentary called The Panama Deception. It was about America's invasion of Panama and media's complicity. Hmmmmmm... sound familiar???

I am posting a link to the film on another post on this thread if you're interested.

BTW! Welcome to DU and Happy New Year!
