Gay Military Captain: Male Sex Consensual - could get life in prison
Gay Military Captain: Male Sex Consensual
Man Accused Of Raping Four Men

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- A defense attorney for an Air Force officer said at a court-martial Tuesday that alleged victims lied about being raped and drugged to avoid being discovered as homosexuals in the military.

The attorney for Capt. Devery L. Taylor, a former chief of patient administration at Eglin Regional Hospital, said that the captain is a homosexual, and that he engaged in consensual sex with the men he is accused of raping.

Taylor is accused of raping four men and attempting to rape two men. Conviction could bring life in prison without parole.

The captain is charged with two counts of attempted sodomy, four counts of forcible sodomy, three counts of kidnapping and one count of unlawful entry.

The military prosecutor described Taylor as a serial rapist who met his victims in bars, spiked their drinks with a date-rape drug known as GHB and kidnapped them.

1. What the gay captain has said is an assertion.
We shouldn't automatically take anyone's version at face value.

The guy could get prison for rape. If his defense holds that it was consensual he will be discharged.

3. If he is proven to have raped them, he's as bad as a heterosexual rapist.
Neither women nor men should be drugged and raped.

4. If he raped anyone ...
Prison is the place he needs to be.

5. Common defense tactic.
"It wasn't rape, it was consensual." I'm skeptical about this one . . .

7. Yeah but this has the added element of a motivation to lie on the part of the victims
so who knows. His word against theirs. Lucky for him, though, last time I checked, the word of a superior officer outranks the word of thousands of lower ranks.

In most cases, there isn't much reason for victims of date rape to lie and falsely accuse their assailant. However, in this case, if its not rape, and it is already knows that they had intercourse with him, then their careers are over.

So what we might have here is a serial date-rapist, or we might have a bunch of closeted military personnel all rolling over on this guy to save their jobs.

And we will never know for sure
