Have we heard from the Secretary of State re the tragic news from Pakistan?
Dr. Rice appears to be less than wholly engaged in the matter.

11. This is a woman who was frequently mentioned as a presidential candidate
for 2008.

She sure is keeping a low profile on international affairs.

Why, if we didn't know better, we might begin to suppose that she isn't qualified for the job...

Like the failure she is, republicon Rice has failed to say or do anything helpful at all.

As usual.

Typical republicon.

know, our media coverage here has been sketchy at best. Voluminous but vacuous.

17. Bhutto's assassination focuses attention on a scary regional conflict that we weren't supposed
to know about. Any public statement from her would point out the State Department's colassal failure to address this tinderbox region and the fact that despite tens of billions sent to Pakistan, Musharif and the US still can't neutralize al Quaeda.

19. Yes, it does have the feel of their wanting to obscure significant shortcomings.
And of course Dr. Rice personifies those failures if she is the one at the control panel at the State Department.

My god I'm really frightening myself here.

and PNAC before she even attempts to take this on.

India/Pakistan was NOT on the neoCon agenda so they just sort of hoped it would fall into obscurity. What they never counted on was the tremendous influence of Americans from both nations (Mr. B is from India) to keep it in the spotlight.

Why are we so concerned with Iran's nonexistent technology when India and Pakistan both have nukes and have tested them in a pissing match with each other?

Edit: For proof, look at Bush's presser the other day on it. He wasn't in control; he was almost shaking--not because he was drinking, but because this wasn't part of the plan at all. This wasn't something the neoCons planned out 2 decades ago--it just "happened."

24. Pakistan is a lighted fuse right now and there's just this overwhelming
feeling that a qualified soul could bring more clarity and judgment to the crisis than Condoleezza Rice.

She's the Russian expert whose Cold War credentials leave her spectacularly unqualified for current world crises.

The times have rushed past her very swiftly, like a Pony Express rider who can't see how a little telegraph machine threatens his livelihood.

27. Hmmm. Very dicey. Let me publicly apologize for all the dismissive comments
I made about Warren Christopher.

In the grim light of Dr. Rice's qualifications in the global arena, it's clear I was too harsh and too hasty.

I mean Ben-a-zir Bhutto, she is not even an American... and Musharraff, hard name to pronounce!
