Homophobia! Xenophobia! Racism! .... Just another day at the Free Republic.
These are posts in a thread about gay immigrants joining the fight for immigrant rights.

Here's a bit from the actual Chicago Tribune story:

Gay immigrants fight to join movement
chicago tribune ^ | Dec 25 2007 | Antonio Olivo

Chicago's immigrant rights movement was on the verge of making history, and Nicole Perez was ready to lend her voice when she was told, with an angry sneer, that she was not welcome.

That was March 10, 2006. Perez and her lesbian partner, Xiomara Santana, had joined more than 100,000 demonstrators in the Loop for a march that kicked off a nationwide struggle for immigrant rights. Holding hands, the U.S.-born women looked at the Latino faces around them and were reminded of their own families.

Then an elderly man 2 feet away cursed at the couple, spitting out: "Why are you here?"

"I was like: 'We're all here for the same reason. This is as much my issue as it is yours,'" Perez, 25, said, recalling her tears of anger as others at the march laughingly trotted away from a gay and lesbian banner nearby for fear of being associated with the group.

And here are the responses: :scared:

Bi-sexual, Transsexual, anarchists Radical Islamo's Joshua Hoyt will take them all
BUT he makes BIG BUCKS!! and during this past year VOLUNTEER GRASSROOTS ACTIVISTS defeated his drivers certificate bill for illegal aliens in Illinois!!

FIRE JOSHUA HOYT!! He is not worth the paper his name is printed on! Joshua Hoyt and the 3 Million dollars of taxpayers money the he gets is being wasted!

barely a word was spoken about the case of Victoria Arellano, a transgender woman with AIDS who arrived illegally from Mexico and died this summer in a detention center in...

Transgender, illegal, Hispanic with AIDS? Had "she" survived, "she" would have been an honored SuperDelegate to the upcoming Democrat Party nominating convention.

The Victoria Arellano case highlighted shortcomings in medical treatment available to illegal immigrants awaiting deportation, especially those with HIV, activists said.
"...shortcomings in medical treatment..."? Why are we supposed to treat illegal aliens in this country? I know this was supposed to make me feel badly, but it didn't work. I have zero sympathy for anyone who is here illegally and then ties to bitch about some service that's denied to them. Why didn't they get treatment in Mexico instead of coming here illegally? Hmmm...I wonder.

" the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community"
"Community"? Only in America can bunches of sex deviates be considered as significant members of "society", whereas social misfits/maladjusted are not treated for their sickness, but rather are accommodated for their perversion.
